Ludacris is teaming up with restaurateur Chris Yeo to open an upscale, Asian influenced restaurant in midtown Atlanta this spring. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the eatery will be located in a 5,170-square-foot space at 793 Juniper St. which formerly housed a restaurant called Spice. Luda picked up the property for $2.7 million early last year, initially as a real estate investement. After meeting San Francisco based Yeo through a mutual friend, the idea for a partnership was born. Yeo, who is Chinese but was born in Singapore, currently owns four successful restaurants in California, and plans to open three more with the rapper in the Atlanta area. This first location will be branded under the Straits name that three of Yeo’s current ventures already use. The menu will be Asian influenced with a focus on local ingredients such as peanuts and okra. Luda has already invested $1 million into renovations for the space and the partners envision the Atlanta Straits as a warm, welcoming environment with “elements of fire and water” in the décor. Luda and Yeo are looking to open in April.
