Lil Wayne Arrested in Arizona on Drug Charges

Lil Wayne was reportedly arrested near Yuma, AZ last night on various drug related charges. According to website TMZ.com, the rapper was picked up and charged with three felony counts of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Local law enforcement sources told TMZ that the Drug Enforcement Agency, the federal agency tasked with handling high profile drug cases, was involved. The nature of the DEA’s involvement is not yet clear. As of this morning Weezy was being held at the Yuma County Sheriff’s Department, where he was scheduled to be arraigned at 9:00 a.m. PT.

    If a rapper is consistently rapping/voice-boxing/singing/talking about the copious amounts of illegal drugs he is using (…abusing…)–even if we live in a country believing in freedom of speech–can’t he be investigated or monitored by the DEA. I mean, obviously it seems he has, but I’m just confused as to how anyone can be surprised that this has happened. If you listen to any of the Drought mixtapes, he is clearly living virtually EVERY waking moment of his life fucked up on something, be it pills, weed, or drank (drank as in promethazine and codeine not as in alcohol but I’m sure he gets his liqs in too)…I mean what’s the verdict on that? Yeah I know they have hip hop cops and all that other shit but I’m saying–it seems like if he and all these other dudes KNOW that they out there watching, well then to spit about it over and over (not to mention sitting through every awards show with a big ass white cup–you ain’t fooling nobody) is like providing a taped confession and gives them even more reason to trap someone (hello, Tip Harris). And I’m trying to hate on Wayne and T.I. I’m a huge fan…So TPAR, I know this isn’t a blog but you’re incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to legal matters so get at me, I’m trying to learn up on this one because reality of the situation, if a rapper is talking about all the guns he has stashed on his person or in his whip and I’m a hip hop cop (hypothetically speaking), I’m sure as hell going to pull his ass over when I see the all-black truck, too.       In theory, words alone, especially in artistic form are not a basis for criminal investigation and most certainley not criminal prosectuion. In practice however, police can use “reasonable suspicion” or “probably cause” to search about anything or anyone. So while they will never cite Wayne’s lyrics as the reason he is being watched or searched, I can’t help but feel that in practice this is the case. It’s tricky.

    The ectasy is weighed differently. Most pills are when you get busted. They consider each pill a gram because these govt fools have no way of measuring the weight of something that varies since its made somewhere overseas or in shady lab some where.BOTTOM LINE!!
