Sheek Louch Preps Silverback Gorilla for March ’08 Release

LOX group member and solo artist Sheek Louch is preparing to release his third solo LP, Silverback Gorilla in March of next year. The album will be released under the rappers marketing services agreement with Koch Records and his own D-Block records. In addition to his partners Jadakiss and Styles P, Sheek has tapped Bun B, The Game, Fat Joe and Jim Jones for guest appearances. The first single, “Keep Pushin’” will be hitting the streets any day now. Silverback Gorilla is the follow up to Sheek’s first two solo projects, 2003’s Walk Witt Me and 2005’s After Taxes. “Sheek Louch is a successful core KOCH artist and he defines gangsta rap in New York,” Koch General Manager and executive VP Alan Grunblatt said in a statement announcing the release.

    Sheek has always been a beast. He just never got the exposure that Styles and Kiss got. He is just as good of a lyricist as both of them. He just doesn’t hunger for the fame like they do.     I did not take the comments made by Alan Grunblatt to be degrading.GangsterRap is a sub-genre in rap music.It is labeled gangster rap only because it has elements of past gangster rap releases and/or the artist themselves wants it to be.

    Yes,I will say most label executives see dollar signs first but I promise you that is something not limited to the entertainment industry.

    Lastly, I nor any of us can not use previous releases as tools to determine if a future release is going to be worthy of a purchase.I know we all have an artist in mind that their last album was not as good as their first and vice-versa (I chose not to name names).

    So only time will tell….
