Houston MC Mike Jones has announced that he will release a brand new LP, The Voice Of The Streets, in early 2008. His last project, The American Dream, was originally scheduled to be the full length follow up to his highly successful debut Who Is Mike Jones?, but numerous delays and false starts effectively doomed the project. Although Mike shot videos for three singles, “My 64,” “Turnin’ Headz” and “Mr. Jones,” none of the tracks generated the buzz he enjoyed during the run-up to his debut album. XXL reviewed The American Dream in our May 2007 issue and gave the project an average “L” rating. The project was eventually shortened to a six track EP and was quietly packaged with his biographical, straight to DVD film of the same name that hit streets on November 20. Now, ready for a fresh start, Mike is preparing to drop The Voice Of The Streets early next year. The first single, “Drop & Give Me 50,” [LISTEN HERE] is produced by Mr. Collipark and features “Ay Bay Bay” star and Shreveport, Louisiana native Hurricane Chris.
