Da Brat’s Alleged Assault Victim Retains High Powered Attorney

Shayla Stevens, an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader who was allegedly assaulted by Da Brat earlier this month, has retained prominent trial attorney Willie Gary to represent her in the case. Da Brat was arrested on November 1 and charged with felony assault after she allegedly struck Stevens in the face with a bottle at Jermaine Dupri’s Studio 72 nightclub in Tucker, Georgia. According to witness accounts, the two were involved in a verbal altercation and shoving match earlier that night. According to a statement released by Gary’s office, Stevens has suffered permanent injuries to her face as well as possible neurological damage, putting her career as a dancer and budding actress in jeopardy. The statement also insinuates fault on the part of Studio 72’s management, whom Gary claims refused to eject Da Brat from the club prior to the incident and failed to seek medical attention for Stevens in a timely manner. “Our client was physically attacked by Da Brat and has suffered significant head injuries, permanent disfigurement as well as mental distress,” Gary stated. “Ms. Stevens is a cheerleader, choreographer, dancer, actress and entrepreneur, whose career has been greatly affected by this incident.” Gary’s track record as a litigator is well documented. He has reportedly won several multi-million dollar verdicts for his clients against corporations such as Walt Disney and Anheuser-Busch.

    i personally know shayla. i wonder what she did to get hit like that. I’ve known her since 04 and ain’t never met anyone who didnt like her. i dunno. it’s fucked up what happened, but neurological damage? i don’t think so. she got willie gary as an attorney, so he threw that in there to surpass that six figure settlement and to take it to the 7 figs. either way, that wasnt smart on da brats part. this wont be a long trial.

    Here in ATL if you REALLY know Shayla personally (as I do- – and talk to her daily) then you’ll know she HAS suffered neurological damage. If you were any kinds of smart you would know that a lawyer can’t just shout out accusations without having something to back it up with (i.e. proof). As small as Shayla is that type of force and the blunt object IS enough to do serious damage. For those of you saying she just needs to STFU and get over it…I want you to take a Malibu bottle to you own face and then just “get over it”. We aren’t just talking about a small nick on her face, asses. This is a huge scar that will stay with her forever. I’m not at liberty, right now, to say exactly what happened but just know Da Brat will be paying up; the sad thing is people really think everyone is after $$. If you know Shayla then you know she’s already financially straight. She didn’t NEED $$ from JD or Brat. But it is what it is and she’ll get what’s due to her. You assault someone and cause them to lose income (she was slated to appear on a couple TV shows and choreograph for a few artists in ATL) then yes, you should be reimbursed. Before you talk please be sure that you can back things up, aiight? And boo boo…Shayla would have gotten over 6 figures regardless if Mr. Gary had “added in” the neurological part. Do the math and understand that, okay? I can vouche for the fact that Shay is not the type to lie to get money. You can believe what you want but just know the truth lies in this paragraph.
