Snoop Says He Can Solve the U.K.’s Gang Problem

Snoop Dogg, who was officially banned from entering the U.K. last year, has stated that he can solve the country’s growing gang problem. According to Yahoo Music News, Snoop believes he is the ideal person to speak to youth in the country and discourage them from engaging in gang related activity. “I really wanted to be a voice to stop gang members, ’cause they respect me enough to get into a room with me, Snoop said. “By not permitting me, they’re saying they just don’t want me to solve this situation.” Snoop was banned from entering the U.K. because of a brawl between his entourage and authorities at Heathrow Airport in April of 2006, as well as his prior criminal record. “It’s not the fans, it’s just a few people in white wigs and members of parliament. They got a problem because the judicial law is from the 1800s.” In related news, Snoop is scheduled to host the MTV Europe Awards tomorrow night (November 1) in Munich, Germany.

    When England say they have a gang problem, they don’t mean like here in the US. In England the regular popo to this day still don’t carry guns, so at least their is not a lot of shootings. In order for it not to get like that there, they are right to keep people like SNOOP out of England. I listen to & stil listen to Grap, but I am an adult & I don’t & never have been in a gang or owned a gun, maybe growing up in England has a lot to do with that. I am in my 30s now but I have lived here since I was 12. See what a good foundation can do for a person, I grew in the hood in Brooklyn since 12 years old, but no gang never had an influence on me when I was growing up there. I had the chronic album when it came out & the other albums after that, but I never did any of the things that they said on the records. ps I am lying I like the CHRONIC, by that I mean the real CHRONIC yall.

    I think Snoop Dogg can help try and solve the increasing violence here in the U.K, but for one, it’s not something he can solve alone. People can relate and respect Snoop Dogg because of his gang affiliation, but that’s the problem- how can he and or other individuals who glorify gang culture stop others from joining gangs? When artists brag and market gang culture in their music, wave rags in TV appearances etc. then turn around and say ‘don’t do it’ gives out a mixed message to say the very least. A lot of this country’s gang culture is an imitation of American gang culture, so Snoop Dogg in that respect may be a credible individual to speak out against it. But even though Snoop is an ‘inactive’ Crip, I don’t think he will be too effective in hindering gang activity here when he, record company companies and others are still producing the same material which may be partially responsible for gang culture in some instances. Surely the serious step he should take would be to stop promoting gang culture in his music first.

    First off, im Snoop Dogg dont even come to the hood that he claims. He aint even trying to stop the gang problem he the hood he grew up in. He hasnt built any youth facilities in the city of Long Beach. Yes he did start a football league but that was for his own pleasures and it aint like he letting the less fortunate kids play for free. That dude dont put on any benefit concerts for the youth and furthermore when someone from the hood he claims die or get killed nobody can go to Snoop and get a dollla (and those are the front line soldiers out there banging) He trying to go way across the ocean to help them when he wont help clean out his own back yard. Its all the the public eyes. A hollywood gangsta doing it for the camera. Dude worse then them folks fighting a war to clean up someone else country when we got problems here at home. Im from Long Beach so i see what goes down and how it goes down. Come home Snoop and offer the youth some jobs and some training.
