Nas Titles New Album Nigga

According to MTV News, during a performance at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on October 12, Nas told concertgoers that his new album will be called Nigga and will be released in December. While details surrounding the LP are still sketchy, MTV confirmed the project’s name and producer Jermaine Dupri has expressed interest in contributing to the album. In addition, Nas will release his Greatest Hits LP in November and will shoot a video for one of the album’s new songs, “Surviving the Times.”

  • nas 4 life

  • iBeing

the man sure is a catalyst. its good for Hip Hop though…its going to be the talk of the town again like
Hip Hop Iz Dead….sure the focus is on American Gangster now so he chose the wrong time to announce the title but talks will starts once American Gangster first week sales pass. as for JD, u neva know coz even Will.I.Am delivered for him even though Will is well famous for pop songs so maybe JD can deliver something strong and raw for Nas…i just hope he works with Dj Premeir, its long overdue now Nas and Jay

  • black man

    ya manz is crazy smh

  • http://www.hip-hopkings.com Stu

    This is very interesting.
I hope he’s not gonna use contraversy to sell his album, because his skill alone will do that.

He’s not the first rapper to do it though.
But it’s gonna be hard on the reviewers etc.

  • Jay-C

As Big Shug said “And you mr nasty man we all love your shit but you know you need DJ Premier. It is what it is”

  • May

    Nice try, Nas.

    But it ain’t gonna pass.

  • Omnipotent

    N-ever
    I-gnorant
    G-etting
    G-oals
    A-ccomplished – 2Pac

We’ll see what he actually does with the word, I don’t think it’s pure shock value

  • LDP

Great that all we needed, more reasons to use the word nigga. Now white people are going to be like, I’m going to get that new NIGGA album. Don’t be mad when white people start saying Nigga

    • http://Myspace.com/eca93 Kool Nerd

First of all, Nas is a very educated man. What i dont understand is how somebody sid, “Dont get mad when white people start saying nigger.” White people have already been saying nigger. And im sure not a lot of white people would catch feelings if Eminem came out with an album called CRACKER. Thats just fact.

  • Berto

Funny things is dude is a real artist, Shock value come on man, never did it in his career don’t think he would start now.

  • Nehemiah

I just hope he has a track that smashes Bill O racists ass.

  • barbarian at the gate

    ‘Nigga’??

Is Nas praising or shitting on his folk & himself?

Never heard a degrading slur used as an acronym like Omnipotent above applies it.

    Man, the times are interesting.

    • Snakeyez

Actually Pac did use that acronym as well as
      T-he
      H-atred
      U
      G-ave
      L-ittle
      I-nfants
      F-ucks
      E-veryone

Anyways Nigga will never see the light of day and we all know it. If they wouldn’t let Young Buck drop Fuck The World there is no way Nigga hits the stores.

  • http://www.xxlmag.com noid

THEY GONNA CHANGE THE NAME 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE ALBUM DROPS AFTER THE HYPE GETS TO WHERE THEY WANT IT AT.IN THIS DAY IN AGE CALLING YOUR ALBUM NIGGA ISNT GANNA FLY!

  • Caine

Nas definitely gone change da name before da album drops.

  • Swizzie

This man i used to respect, but he’s making hip-hop seem worse and worse in the media.

first he pretty much gives Don Imus a reason to hate on hip-hop with hip-hop is dead.

And now this, man why didn’t you choose anything more poetic kid.

  • Cuban Link

It wont be called Nigga, HHID was gonna be called Nigga but he changed it.

And its not “Nigga” Its N_GGA and where the _ is “as” is written on so its like NasGGA.Well at least that what was supposed to happen last time

  • Accurate

WTF thats pointless.Wit hip hop under fire, u just gon prove steriotype. Got damnit, niggas be fuckin up.

    • touch

I mean damn, give the album a chance. I could care less about the title. The word is a hot button topic right now and who knows in what why he plans to us the Sure he’s probably doing this for shock-value and to increase interest, but it’s called promotion. I see nothing negative about the title because I know Nas as an artist will have some thought provoking, entertaining, and positive things to go along with that title. He always come thru with the aforementioned items. The only thing I hope he does is study the history of the word, formulate a solid position, and be able to discuss and defend that position in interviews. He started off well with HHID and the more I saw him in interviews speaking on issue his postion seemed to get weaker and less intelligent or different from his original position.

He’s a smart guy and one of the best at the art and as far as I’m concerned he’s given the game so much while passing on so many opportunities, I feel that if not for no other reason than that we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Now where it some these other clown artists who rap only about bullshit, I might be speaking against it!

  • http://50cent.com cheddamelt

what’s wrong with nas, he’s busy degrading hip/hop and black community.
if he was here in south africa he wouldn’t do this, because we love what we are, we educated and we don’t bite the hands that feeds us.

  • grapes

    Haha.

  • Daytons#1DraftPick

LEAVE IT TO NAS TO CUM UP WITH SUM CLEVER SHIT LIKE DAT! WAIT! IM WHITE! DOES IT MEAN I CANT ASK FOR THIS CD WHEN I CALL THE CD STORE. HAHA!

  • Hova

damn Nas u a legend but why u hate on hiphop and say its dead but u still bringing out album and u callin it nigga
    pure publicity.

  • Prophecy_Projectz

Damn, it is way too early for a Nas album to come out. There is not enough Who’s producing? Where’s the Hype? The “Nigga” album title is whatever, doesnt nearly have the same impact as “Hip Hop is Dead”. Nas is my fav rapper but he is setting himself up for a fall.

Wait till 2008 and get Just Blaze and Primo Nas, dont be stupid! smh@ him thinking an album with Chris Webber is gonna sell…..

    • joey doe

prophecy go jump in front of a moving bus. It’s NAS, hes a veteran in the hip hop game he can come out whenever he fucking feels like it jerk off.

  • joey doe

Nas is one of my idols hands down. Thank God hes putting a regular album out too in addition to the greatest hits thing (that I don’t agree with) I heard it, and quite frankly, it’s retarded. 2 new songs and 10 songs we’ve heard a hundres million times? So I hope “Nigga” is something special because for me the last thing my dude put out that was inspirational was It Was Written. ESCO COME BACK WE NEED YOU SOS!

  • jigga

HE WILL NOT SELL MORE THEN JAY-Z’S AMERICAN GANGSTA

  • Shellshock

Nas is the best rapper alive hands down, the name of the album don’t matter its the lyrics he spit on the album, stop hatting on the greatest m.c. ever nas esco

  • Lilrickcism

Nas is the best rapper in the game today. His wordplay and stories are realer than what these flukes are talking about in the game now. Ima be the first in line to cop the new album. Of course its going to be controversy, but without controversy the rap game wouldnt be where its at now.

  • realblizzle

we wait till the album drops, but definitely not with NIGGA. the sh!t a!n’t good. peace out!

  • BlackUplifter

I think it’s wack, that any of you are supporting the title of his new album. I hope none of you are white people, who no matter how much hip hop you listen to, will never know what it means to be black. I am very disappointed in Nas, I’ve always thought him to be a socially conscious artist, concerned with the plight of his “people.” Nigga/Nigger is no way a term that celebrates the African American heritage. It is a word that embodies our ancestors blood and anguish of slavery and the white man’s self proclaimed supremacy. We shouldn’t use it out of respect for our enslaved ancestors and for the fact our use gives the undeserved privilege of others to use it against us.

  • blim da woo

eh,Nas man if 2pac cud wake up he ll back u up man kep the game comin,we ned to take the power frm the word, n white pple thiz is jst the beginin brace yrself

  • true poet in da rap game
