Man Claiming to be Juvenile’s Agent Charged with Rape
John Cantey, Jr., a man traveling through Kentucky with rapper Juvenile, has been arrested and charged with rape. According to Kentucky’s WLKY, Cantey, a 46-year-old city councilman from Lumberton, NC, stands accused of raping a Detroit woman at the Marriott Hotel at Embassy Square in Louisville. Cantey allegedly brought the woman to his hotel room and raped her after she refused to have sex with him. The woman later identified Cantey to local authorities and provided them with a business card that he had given her. Jeffersontown Police Department Chief Rick Sanders told WLKY that Cantey claimed to be Juvie’s agent at the time of his arrest. The former Hot Boy had performed in Frankfort, KY that same evening. Cantey has since pleaded not guilty and has been given a $100,000 bond. The Fayettville Observer reports that Cantey, who is also listed as the CEO of JC Houseman Productions in NC, won his city council seat on a write in campaign in 2005. The Observer also notes that Cantey has a prior criminal record that includes a guilty plea to 19 counts of fraud against the Employment Security Commission.
