Foxy Brown’s Manager Says Her Stay in Solitary Due to a Misunderstanding

Chaz Williams, Foxy Brown’s manager, says that his client was placed into punitive segregation, or solitary confinement, due to a misunderstanding. The incarcerated Brooklyn rapper has been in solitary since October 16 for three violations that Riker’s Island officials say she committed, including a scuffle with a fellow inmate and her refusal to submit to a drug test. But Chaz tells that the allegations are not entirely true. According to Williams, the scuffle never happened. “There was an incident where a girl attempted to confront her and she stood her ground, but there wasn’t any contact. Words were exchanged and that was it,” he told He also claims that the drug test incident was a result of Foxy’s hearing problems. “Really she didn’t hear the request,” he said. “She has a battery-operated device and sometimes it dies out.” Williams went on to say that by the time Foxy realized what she was being asked to do, officials had already decided on disciplinary action. City council member Charles Barron reportedly visited Foxy on Riker’s on October 21 and subsequently asked the commissioner to remove her from solitary, citing the hearing impairment. The rapper has since been examined and an investigation is still under way. Back in 2005, Foxy announced that she was suffering from severe hearing loss and was in danger of losing her hearing completely. After undergoing surgery, she has since recovered considerably.
