50 Cent & G-Unit Set to Release Second Group Album Shoot To Kill in December

In an XXLMAG.COM exclusive, 50 Cent has revealed that he and his G-Unit crew are back in the studio and gearing up to drop their second group album at the end of this year. “The G-Unit album Shoot To Kill is coming out December 18th, so cancel Christmas, it’s over,” 50 Cent told XXLMAG.COM. “It’s a righteous kill.” The group’s first album, Beg For Mercy, which was recorded largely during Tony Yayo’s incarceration, sold over 2 million copies when it was released in 2003. In related news, Funkmaster Flex will be premiering the Shoot To Kill‘s first track “Wanna Lick,” which features Lil’ Kim, tomorrow on New York’s Hot 97.

In an interview, 50 explained the difference between G-unit the group and g-unit the record label. But dynasty (nothing to do with roc) record labels and groups come and go in cycles. example no limit. So maybe their time has passed, but hopefully they can crank out another hot record.

Now, I will give him credit, he is a very talented businessman, but as far as him using his favorite marketing tactic, (which is trying to erode peoples’ interest in other artist by scheduling his release on the same day of his “rivals”), is about to wear thin. He pulled that same stunt with Kanye and Mr. West promptly outsold him. He needs to realize that, just because your 50 Cent, doesn’t mean that you can easily sway someone’s fanbase into buying your album instead of theirs’. Diehard fans of Kanye bought his album and diehard fans of Lil’ Wayne will buy his album, point, blank, period. And trust me, there are ALOT of diehard Lil’ Wayne fans nowadays.

    50cent benefited from all that K West drama because it put allot of hype around both albums, if he had just drop by himself he wouldnt have sold as much, because of all the “competition” he got good sales.
    Another thing is that its not 50cent doesent try to erode other peoples sales, firtstly it happened only once with Kanye and secondly it was a joint marketing strategy otherwise they would not do shows and pose together for magazine covers. It was a new tactic that worked very well for both.
    Now as for lil wayne, his numbers havent been too good in the past, he has always struggled to go platinum and i think his last two albums (carter 2, that one with baby) strugled to go gold and he had all the hype that he has today, if anything this lil drama will help wayne
