Gucci Mane Responds to “Unauthorized” Release of Trap-A-Thon Album

gucci-mane1.jpgGucci Mane has issued a statement in response to what he says was the unauthorized release of his 2006 album Trap-A-Thon by Big Cat Records on September 25. According to Gucci, the album, which was recorded following his release from prison in 2006, was released without his approval. The Atlanta rapper signed with Big Cat in 2005 and released his controversial single “So Icy” with them later that year. The Trap-A-Thon LP features an early version of Gucci’s current hit “Freaky Gurl,” which will also appear on Gucci’s upcoming Back To The Traphouse album on Asylum Records.

Gucci’s statement is as follows:

“It has come to my attention that my former record label, Big Cat, is
trying to put out an unauthorized release of my music. Not only was this
done with out my approval, but the music they are trying to release is
unfinished and does not represent who I am today as an artist. I ask my
fans not to support this release and instead wait for the official Gucci
Mane, Back To The Traphouse album coming out on my label So Icey
Entertainment/Czar/ Asylum/Atlantic Records on November 13th, and if anyone needs to book me for a show or get in contact with me they should only call the So Icey offices.”
