diddy-12.jpgSean “Diddy” Combs will reprise his role as Walter Lee Jr. in a long delayed film adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry’s award winning play, A Raisin In The Sun. As previously reported on, Diddy will be joined onscreen by the renowned cast that helped bring the acclaimed production back to Broadway in 2004. A Raisin In The Sun tells the story of a Black family in 1950’s Chicago that is waiting on the arrival of a $10,000 life insurance check made out to the family matriarch, Lena Younger, from the estate of her late husband Walter Lee. In addition to his starring role, Diddy is also serving as co-executive producer for the film. Kenny Leon, who directed the latest Broadway incarnation of the play, also helmed the film version. Also appearing in the film are Phylicia Rashad, Sanaa Lathan, Audra McDonald and John Stamos. The three hour presentation will air on ABC on February 25, 2008.
