mistah-fab.jpgBay Area rapper Mistah F.A.B. is collaborating with a non-profit organization, Youth UpRising, for a “Back to School Night” on Thursday, August 30 in Oakland, Calif. F.A.B., who recently signed to Atlantic Records, donated 200 backpacks filled with school supplies, including pens, pencils, three-ring bingers, folders and paper. “I feel it’s really important that kids go to school to see the value in their education,” says F.A.B, who is a graduate of Oakland’s Technical High School. “The power of the pen is mightier than the sword and the more we know, the more we can make a change. As entertainers it’s our duty to share the success that we have received from our fans.” In addition, Youth UpRising offers academic assistant for high school and college students, educational stipends and job training and placement opportunities. All of the services are free and are available for students between the ages of 13 and 24 who reside in Alameda County.
