Busta Rhymes Sued Over Alleged Assault

A Bronx man has filed a lawsuit against Busta Rhymes claiming that he was assaulted by the rapper and his crew on a Manhattan street after he accidentally spit on their car. According to the Associated Press, 20 year-old Roberto Lebron filed the suit yesterday (July 6) in New York State Supreme Court. Busta’s lawyer, Scott Leemon, says that he has not yet seen the suit and commented simply, “Nothing has been proven yet.” Busta was arrested and charged with assault in connection with the incident back in August of 2006 while he was leaving the Heineken Amsterjam music festival on Randall’s Island in New York. On July 10, Busta rejected a plea deal offered by city prosecutors that would’ve landed him in jail for one year on this, and another assault charge, as well as two driving charges. The rapper now faces four separate criminal trials in addition to this newly filed civil suit.
