the-roots.jpgThe Roots are set to headline the first ever Hip-Hop Honors tour which will be presented by the VH1 network and is inspired by their well received Hip-Hop Honors annual specials. According to Billboard, The Roots, who have served as the house band on the show in the past, are the only act to be announced as of yet. The tour will kick off in San Francisco on September 13 and touch down in 15 cities before wrapping up on October 5 at the Nokia Theater in New York. The Hip-Hop Honors specials, which have aired for three seasons, pay tribute to pioneering hip-hop artists and their contributions to the art form. The show first aired in 2004 and featured tributes to Kool Herc, Run-DMC and the Sugarhill Gang amongst others.
