mos-def1.jpgMos Def has signed on as an honorary co-chair of the 4th Annual Children's Sports & Fitness Expo in New York City this September alongside actress Susan Sarandon. The Expo is a tri-state event that seeks to combat childhood obesity by engaging overweight children in over 25 sports activities and nutrition classes. Founded by Vincent Ferguson, president and founder of Body Sculpt of New York, the Expo is now in its fourth consecutive year and over 5,000 children and their parents are expected to attend this year’s event. "I am delighted to host the 4th annual Children's Sports & Fitness Expo in New York City,” says Ferguson. “Each year, the event gets bigger and better. This year we are very excited about Actress Susan Sarandon and Actor/Rapper Mos Def lending their names as Honorary Co-Chairs to the event. With their support, we hope to bring more attention to the fact that one in three children born since 2000 will get diabetes and according to the New England Journal of Medicine, children will lose three to five years off of their lives because of obesity.” The Expo will take place on Saturday, September 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the 369th Harlem Armory Center and Minisink Townhouse located at West 142nd Street between 5th and Lenox Avenues. Over 40 instructors will be donating their time to guide children in golf, tennis, fencing, gymnastics, soccer, boxing, martial arts, dance, yoga, baseball, basketball and more.
