chuck-d.jpgLegendary MC Chuck D flew across the country on Tuesday (July 24) not for a promotional appearance or to attend a political rally, but to read to a group of Atlanta area school children. According to the Clayton Daily News, the Public Enemy front man appeared at the Clayton County Headquarters Library, at the request of his mother, Judy Ridenhour. Chuck read the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears to a group of children ranging in age from three to seven-years-old, and added his own hip-hop twist to the timeless classic. “Y’all ready?,” Chuck asked the kids. “Say, yeah! Once upon a time there was three bears…” The reading came about after Chuck’s mom, who is the Clayton County Public Library Storyteller, revealed her famous son’s identity to her co-workers, who then encouraged her to have him come meet with the children. The decision was easy to make for the outspoken rapper. “They’re fresh beginnings,” he said. “Children up to the age of 9 or 10, they always have a look of optimism. They have that look on their faces and know there’s sunshine in the day. I mean, older people start wars and have all these differences. Keep the optimism of youth and innocence for the world. That’s what the world needs.”
