Ruff Ryders CEO Darrin “Dee” Dean Arrested on Cocaine and Weapons Charges
Darrin “Dee” Dean, co-CEO of the Ruff Ryders record label, was arrested on Thursday (May 31) on various drug and weapons charges. According to The Record, Dean and associate Jerry Gilbert were pulled over on the Englewood Cliffs section of the Palisades Parkway in New Jersey after leaving Dean’s Suffern, NY home. Detective Sgt. Michael Coppola of the Interstate Parkway Police says that officers were overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana coming from the duo’s customized Chevy van when they stopped them for a broken taillight. A search of the vehicle revealed a hidden compartment in the van’s rear wall that contained a kilogram and a half of cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber handgun. Dean and Gilbert were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a handgun and possession of a handgun while conducting narcotics violations. The two men were released from Bergen County jail the next morning on $342,500 bail.
