Quick News on Bow Wow, Lebron James and Duck Down Records

bowwow1.jpgBow Wow will headline the “Increase the Peace” concert at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ on July 4. The concert will start at 5:30 p.m. and also features performances by Mario, Lloyd and Sammy. Ticket prices range from $27 to $58 and can be purchased by calling 1-866-554-BEAR.

Cleveland hip-hop artist, Al Fatz, will shoot a video for his first single, “Came Down,” this Friday (June 22) with fellow friend and NBA superstar Lebron James. King James will star in the video alongside Fatz, who is signed to Dreamlife/Atlantic Records. Big Al will release his major label debut album, which is currently untitled, later this year.

Duck Down Records and the Boot Camp Clik are gearing for a heavy lineup of album releases this summer and fall. On July 25, two new BCC mixtapes will be released — Sean Price’s Master P and Steele of Smif N Wessun’s Hotstyle Takeover. Then, on August 14, the entire Boot Camp Clik will release a new compilation album, Casualties of War, which will feature left over tracks from last year’s album, The Last Stand, as well as unreleased gems. Rounding out the Duck Down release schedule is Special Teamz, a new group formed by Boston legend Edo. G. The trio, comprised of Edo. G, Slaine and Jaysuan, signed with Duck Down to release their debut album, Sterotypez on September 25. The album will feature production by DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Marco Polo, Jake One and Ill Bill. This fall, fans should also expect to see new albums by Smif N Wesson, Buckshot and 9th Wonder and a collaborative LP between Sean Price, Black Milk and Guilty Simpson.

I’ve heard this news before elsewhere. I’m from Boston and Special Teamz is whassup. The three come real hard and is not the cliche stuff you hear out today’s group. For the ones that don’t know about Boot Camp Click, if you can’t remember Heltah Skeltah on Rap City, then you don’t know about Hip-Hop’s golden era which spanned a little past 1994 to 1995. 1996 is when all the thugs really emerged even more on the commercial level on the eastcoast. Anyway, Boot Camp Click and Duck Down along with Sean Price and 9th Wonder (Famous Jay-Z Producer from the The Black Album), have been putting out great music on the indepedent level. Check it out and you will like what you hear for the most part, even to those with eccentric tastes.
