jam_master_jay_hi-res.jpgThe Eyejammie Fine Arts Gallery in New York City will kick off an exhibition of rare photographs from the archives of journalist Harry Allen this week. The show, called Part of the Permanent Record: Photos From the Previous Century, will showcase a series of mostly unseen shots taken by the Public Enemy associate and “media assassin” from 1983-1986. During the period, Allen attended Adelphi University in Long Island, NY and, while working at the student radio station, forged relationships with a wide range of future hip-hop star. Artists who appear in much of Allen’s work include Run-DMC, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, LL Cool J and comedian and activist Dick Gregory. Part of the Permanent Record: Photos From the Previous Century will be open to the public from Friday June 29 through August 16, Monday-Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m.
