Cam’ron to Appear on 60 Minutes to Discuss Anti-Snitching Culture

camron3.jpgHarlem rapper Cam’ron will appear on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday, April 22 to discuss the anti-snitching attitude that has become so prevalent in hip-hop in recent years. When asked by journalist Anderson Cooper why he refused to cooperate with authorities when he was shot in Washington D.C. in 2006, Cam cites a “code of ethics.” He also reasons that police cooperation would likely hurt him financially in his line of work. After Cooper notes that if he himself was a victim of a crime, he’d like to see his attacker arrested, the Dipset CEO counters that he and the anchor are from two different worlds. “But then again, you’re not going to be on the stage tonight in the middle of, say, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, with people with gold and platinum teeth and dreadlocks jumping up and down singing your songs, either,” says Cam. “We’re in two different lines of business.” After Cooper poses a hypothetical question to the rapper about a serial killer living next door to him, he still doesn’t budge. “If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me? I wouldn’t call and tell anybody on him—but I’d probably move,” Cam reasons. “But I’m not going to call and be like, ‘The serial killer’s in 4E.’”
