Young City, formerly known as Chopper from MTV’s Making the Band reality show with Sean “Diddy” Combs, was arrested in Gwinnett County, GA last week following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. According to Baltimore paper The Examiner, the rapper is currently being held in Gwinnett County Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault, simple battery and obstructing a law enforcement officer. Due to his incarceration, Young City missed a scheduled appearance in Baltimore County Court for a charge stemming from a 2001 incident where he allegedly robbed a man with a BB gun. After hearing the explanation from Chopper’s attorney Paul Gardner, Baltimore Judge Patrick Stringer decided to issue a bench warrant and set bail in the amount of $50,000. “I’m astounded by the judge’s decision,” said Gardner. “This judge is putting in danger a million-dollar deal over a BB gun when he was 16. If he’s in jail, he can’t record. Then there’s no record deal.” The former Diddy protégé was taken into custody on the robbery charge back in August of 2006 after he was stopped in Gwinnett County for speeding. He was later extradited to Baltimore and released on bail.
