icecube.jpgRapper and actor Ice Cube has signed on to develop and produce a new reality series called Good in the Hood for the A&E cable network. According to a report in Variety, each episode will feature a reformed criminal, such as a drug dealer or gang member, stepping up to assist an individual who finds themselves in similar circumstances. “This show is a way to demonstrate what is going on in a positive way in the urban community,” Cube said in a statement. Rob Sharenow, Senior VP of Nonfiction and Alternative Programming for A&E, says Cube “plans to be very involved” in the development of the series and will introduce each hour long episode. “One of the most powerful elements in the show is the personal connection of the two subjects,” Sharenow told Variety. “People who are still in thrall to drugs or violence are more apt to respond to someone who has walked in their shoes.” This will be Cube’s second foray into the world of reality TV, following his work with the FX network on the series Black and White.
