zomba_logo.jpgBarry Weiss, President of the Zomba Label Group, has named music executive Mark Pitts as the new President of Urban Music for the company. Pitts, who started his career at Bad Boy under Sean “Diddy” Combs, is a 15 year veteran of the music industry. In 2004, Pitts left Arista Records to join Zomba as an A&R executive and in that capacity he oversaw projects for Usher, Chris Brown, Ciara and Kelis before being promoted to Senior Vice President. “We’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Mark for the past three years, said Weiss. “His ear for talent combined with his business sense is a rare combination which puts ZLG at a great advantage. I look forward to his continuing contributions to Zomba’s success.” The Zomba Label Group is made up of several record labels including Jive, LaFace, and So So Def.
