Will Smith Takes Over Lower Manhattan to Film Sci-Fi Movie

Will Smith and Warner Bros. Studios will take over the immediate area around the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge this afternoon to film a scene for their new film "I Am Legend." According to New York Newsday, the scene will involve over 1000 extras, Army and Coast Guard helicopters, and police and military vehicles and is expected to cause huge disruptions to Manhattan's already precarious rush hour traffic. The film, which is based on the 1954 Richard Matheson novel of the same name, tells the story of Robert Neville, a man who finds himself alone in a world torn apart by a deadly plague that transforms its victims into bloodthirsty vampires. Neville, played by Smith, is immune to the disease and finds himself in a fight against the rest of civilization.
