Serius Jones Signs With Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace
Serius Jones, a New Jersey native and repeat winner of New York City’s famed Fight Klub battles, has officially inked a deal with Disturbing Tha Peace Records. The label, helmed by Ludacris, Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon, is an imprint of Def Jam Records and boasts artists such as Bobby Valentino, Shareefa and Field Mob on its current roster.
Serius first rose to prominence after 12 consecutive wins at Fight Klub and solidified his title after defeating reigning champion Jin the Emcee. The rapper plans to release his debut LP, Life Is Serius, with DTP in 2007. In the meantime, he is also dropping a street album, titled King Me, to be released through independent distribution. “I feel that Serius is capable of changing the game as we know it,” says Chaka Zulu. “He is battle-proven but not limited to being a battle rapper. His approach to hip-hop is refreshing and challenging, and it’s no-holds-barred. ’07 is gonna be serious for hip-hop—pun intended.”
