DJ Drama and Don Cannon were released from the Fulton County Jail yesterday (Jan. 17), after being held overnight following their arrest at the Gangsta Grillz recording studio in downtown Atlanta. Both men posted bond in the amount of $100,000 and are expected back in Fulton County Court on Jan. 24. The charges stem from a raid on the studio by officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday (Jan. 16), during which they reportedly confiscated as many as 81,000 CDs deemed to be illegal counterfeits. In a RIAA press release dated May 3, 2006, Atlanta was identified as one of 12 priority cities or “hot spots” of music piracy. The RIAA is a private trade group composed of numerous record labels that are collectively responsible for approximately 90 percent all recordings sold in the U.S.
