New York Rapper Mims Signs Deal with Capitol Records

Mims, A native of Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood and the voice behind the breakout single "This Is Why I'm Hot," has reportedly inked a deal with Capitol Records. Since the rapper released the track independently earlier this year, it has taken on a life of its own, garnering 1,000 radio spins per week and attracting the attention of several major labels. Reggae legend Junior Reid, who appears on The Game's hit single “One Blood,” and fellow dancehall artist Cham, make appearances on the remix to "This Is Why I'm Hot." Mims is currently working on his debut album Music Is My Savior, which is due out in early 2007.
