Royce Da 5’9” Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison

royce.jpgXXLMAG.COM has learned that Detroit rapper Royce Da 5’9” was sentenced to one year in prison at a hearing last week (September 21). While specific details surrounding the incident are still unclear, sources close to the rapper confirmed that he was convicted of violating his parole in a Michigan court. He is currently being housed in Detroit’s Oakland County jail, where he is waiting to hear about a possible appeal in the next 30 days. Royce, a former associate of fellow Detroit native Eminem, was hard at work on a collaborative album with DJ Premier at the time of his incarceration.

He worked with July 6, who produced a lot on Biggie’s “Life After Death”. He is one of the most underrated rapper these days. With that being said, I’m from and am still in detroit! Royce is not! He from the suburbs directly across from detroit on the other side of 8 mile, Oak Park. That nigga used to always claim he was from the d til he started havin problems wit us for claimin our city.
