Rakim can rap. You should listen to some of his songs before you criticize him. I think the younger generation like to criticize people too much. What’s so cool about that?

Some of you people are complete idiots making disrepect comments about rakim. If it wasn’t for rakim style of rap you wouldn’t have nas or jayz.

    He isn’t old, fucktards; he’s from 1968.

  • 184th Boy

  • Cellus

I normally dont fuck with Annies, but Rakim is tha God MC, so i fucks with them on tha 20th!

  • Cellus

On another note, these young azz bastids who would rather listen to a mof with no skill sspit have no idea how live Rakim is and how much he has contributed to Hip Hop. What? Yall dumb fucks wanna hear some Young Jeezy? Maybe Franchise Boys?

I need to chill because im glad acts like Jeezy & Franchize Boys can earn money and leave tha streets behind if they want to, but lyrically, they CANT FUCK WITH RAKIM, no matter HOW OLD HE IS!!

  • pop a poppa

I got my tickets already. Rakim is the best that ever did it. Only one close is Pac. Rakim ain’t old. He only a few years older than jay-z. and he is better than jay-z in my opinion. plus he still looks like he is 25. and he rapped about shit in his teens that is still relevant now.
for anybody that never heard him before go download some shit.
he one of the only rappers that you can legitimately say had three classic albums.

  • jon jon–23

Rakim had talent but he certainly is no god. He came out early in rap and benefitted from it. We bumped his shit because it was tight and we aint have no artist in our locale to listen to. This nigga showed how stupid he was when he broke away from the best producer ever (Dr. Dre).

  • ishmael ibn malik

Simple the best. You silly young snotty nose pups can say what you want about his age. jon jon-23 go to school, you sound very unintelligent. You said he benefitted coming out early in rap. You idiot it was his era. Should he have told his mom to delay his birth 10 yrs, you clown? lol RAKIM = YOUR FAVORITE RAPPER’S, FAVORITE RAPPER..

  • SAACIID

God MC “When I Be On the Mic” Check out this man’s legacy, it’s well documented. Nas’s faviorate Mc. First Nigga in DC SHOW. EARLY B.

  • jon jon–23

I don’t give 2 rats asses about some New York gibberish. Me and my dogs went for that straight bump in the trunk with good lyrics to boot back in the day. N.W.A, Ghetto Boyz, D.O.C.,Spice One, Too Short, Eightball and MJG, UGK bitch. They was putting out the real shit while you niggas won on paper.

  • http://www.myspace.com/sirjantzversatile Sir Jantz

Rakim is one of the greatest of all time if he isn’t the greatest. Even though I don’t know his songs line for line, I truly believe a lot of emcees have gotten their styles from him. Me for one!! He is cool, confident, and his swagger is unpeccable. He understands hipihop and appreciates it. He’s no joke and is a true emcee. For those of you claiming to be emcees, Rakim proves he’s one. Take notes. Class is in session

  • 11kap

Well, at least Rakim’s lyrics will expand your mind and put some knowledge in your head. I think you only like that street knowledge. That’s really all you had to say. You don’t have to insult the Empire State. We do fine on our own.
Country music is okay if that’s all you want to hear, but it is more to it than that, mister.

  • jon jon–23

What can Rakim possibly lecture me about that is of importance? I can get that from a classroom. If he is such an intellect and great MC how come he can’t figure out how to get back on top of his game?

  • Kid Anonymous

All of you are very disrespectful. Rakim is the best lyrical Emcee on this planet. No one could ever touch, even Nas said that he couldn’t even mesure up to him. Well maybe KRS-One can but noone else could ever.

  • BT

Have some respect for the old school. Don’t knock a rapper who helped the progress and creativity of hip-hop because you don’t understand his music or have a different taste. Grow up and don’t speak about something you don’t know about.

  • 11kap

Some of you young cats won’t realize you’re not even the shit until you get pass age 25. Until then, you’ll keep thinking you’re all that….lil snooty motherfuckers. Y’all need a ass whippin’ lil’ dirtbags.

  • John Cochran

Imma support ol head when he come to philly. I need to hear some ol school shit to remind me of what an MC is.

  • Cellus

John John is obviously a disrespectful unintelligent hethan who knows NOTHING about hip hop, or lyrical skill for that matter. Not only that but the reason he left Dre is because Dre qwanted him to talk about a whole bunch of gangsta shyt and Rakim wasnt on it, so i guess you think he is stupid for not selling his soul, huh? Yeah, it figures. Youth like yourself are whats wrong with the hip hop community today, no knowledge of the past, and no respect for those who made things possible for yall today!

  • http://therealesttmail.com The Realest

HOW THE FUCK A NIGGA WILL SAY BECAUSE OF RAKIM THERE WILL BE NO NAS OR JAY Z. STUPID FUCK, RAKIM NOT THESE NIGGAS DADDY, IF IT WASN’T FO JAY Z & NAS MOM AND DAD GETTING HORNY. THATS THE REASON THE ARE HERE

  • http://therealesttmail.com The Realest

RAKIM SHOULD HANG IT UP. HES A NICE MC BUT LEAVE THE GAME WHERE HE IS HAS LEFT IT. ON TOP. DONT COME BACK LIKE JORDAN DID AND LOOK VUNERABLE THE WAY MIKE DID. THE YOUTH OF THE LIKES OF KOBE, LEBRON, IVERSON ABILITIES EVEN OVER CAME THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. LEAVE HIS LEGACY THE WAY IT IS IN THE RAP GAME. IF ITS A MONEY THING WELL THATS A DIFFERENT STORY. RECENT HISTORY SHOWS THAT RAPPERS NOT AS HOT AS THEY WERE WHEN THEY FIRST DROPPED. ex. DMX NOT SELLING LIKE HIS FIRST CD, GHOSTFACE KILLAH, NAS, EVEN P. DIDDY SOLD SEVEN MILL ON HIS FIRST, 50 CENT WILL NEVER SELL LIKE GET RICH OR DIE TRYING. NELLY YEAH THATS RIGHT NELLY SOLD 9 MILL

  • http://therealesttmail.com The Realest

AND COME TO THINK OF THIS TOUR, WHAT WILL HE BE PERFORMING? WILL IT BE NEW SONGS FROM HIS FORTHCOMING LP THE SEVENTH SEAL. I HOPE SO, AND WHY NO MIAMI ON THE LIST

  • nigga fo da north

whoever dont respect rakim is a bitch

  • teeko

  • haaaaaaa y’ll

joj jon-23 is just another uneducated ignorant nigga (yes another one…sheeesh)hip hop today sux and rakim was around way before N.W.A, Ghetto Boyz, D.O.C., Spice One, Too Short, Eightball and MJG, UG(jon jon-23)n e way I better not start………. its just not worth it

  • crsone01

It amazes me how uninformed many of the so called “next generation” of hip hop fans are!Rakim is and always will be the God MC.Maybe if you youngsters would atleast learn to function over an eighth grade level and learn that there is more to the culture than “trapping”,you’ll learn to appreciate real lyrics. And by the way….Dr.Dre har never been, will never be,and should never be considered the greatest producer in hip hop.

  • my 2 cents

Rakim is a legend in hip hop. This dude was ahead of his game even in the 80′s. Here’s is a little something for you youngin’s.

learn to relax in my room and escape from New York
And Return through the womb of the world as a thought
Thinkin how hard it was to be born
Me being cream with no physical form
Millions of cells with one destination
To reach the best part that’s life’s creation
Nine months later a job well done
Make way cause here I come
Since I made it this far can’t stop now
    There’s a will and a way and I got the know-how
To be all there is to be and more
To see all there is to see before
I’m called to go back to the essence
It’s a lot to learn so I studied my lessons
I thought the ghetto was the worst that could happen to me
I’m glad I listened when my father was rapping to me
Cause back in the days they lived in caves
Exiled from the original man and strayed away
Now that’s what I call hard times
I’d rather be here to exercise the mind
Then I take a thought around the world twice
From knowledge the form back to knowledge precise
Across the desert that’s hot as the Arabian
But they couldn’t cave me in cause I’m the Asian
Reaching for the city of Mecca visit Medina
Visions of Nefertiti then I seen her
Mind keeps travelin I’ll be back after I
Stop and think about the brothers and sisters in Africa
Return the thought through the eye of a needle
For miles I fought and I just fought the people
Under the darks skies on a dark side
Not only there but right here’s an aparthied
So now is the time for us to react
Take a trip through the mind and when you get back
Understand your third eye seen all of that
It aint where you from it’s where you at
    Even the “Ghetto

    Rakim the real emcee

  • jonjon-23

Some of you misinterpret my statements about Rakim. I’m well aware of what he was doing back in the day. He and Eric B made one great album. My thing is this: you guys are worshipping him and giving him credit like he was putting his shit out for the betterment of rap or some other noble cause. He was doing like every other artist and trying to get his money. His music in fact was good, but part of that was because it was during the early years of rap–when rap was still fresh and still expanding. Also, music was more appreciated then, because it wasn’t flowing through the streets for little or nothing (bootleg), and available on the internet. If Rakim was a new artist now he probably wouldn’t get as much love. Since the rap game is a feasible business, it has become a money making vehicle for corporate America (who probably could care less about our struggles, or what we are going through). Don’t hate me for loving (some of) my down south artists, because a lot of yall New York niggas talk down on them. We have to support the good southern lyracists.

  • jonjon-23

And for the record, all of the southern rappers that I mentioned are pioneers of their regions, which means they had to work twice as hard as east coast rappers. Rappers like UGK, Eightball and MJG, Scarface, were very good lyracists and have been in the game for well over a decade. If they didn’t have any talent, they would certainly not be around outside of a year or two because the East Coast is extremely critical of anyone outside of their domain.
