Brooklyn rapper Lil’ Kim is being sued by Jamaican reggae artist Tanya Stephens because of a song on her most recent album, according to the New York Post. Stephens, whose latest album Rebelution is slated to hit stores tomorrow (August 29), claims that the lyrics to Kim’s song “Durty,” from her 2005 LP The Naked Truth, are nearly identical to Stephens’ recording “Mi and Mi God.” The lawsuit, filed last week in Manhattan federal court, seeks ownership of the song, as well as the rights to all past and future royalties. In 1999, Kim reportedly flew Stephens to New York to record vocals for a song intended for one of her previous albums. There has so far been no comment from Kim’s camp addressing the lawsuit.
