The USO (United Service Organization) announced yesterday that at the last minute DMX pulled out of a scheduled tour of Iraq and Kuwait. According to the USO, the rapper was scheduled to depart for Kuwait on August 22, however, he delayed the departure until the August 23. When the date arrived, DMX failed to arrive on time for his flight. John Hanson, senior vice president for marketing and communications, noted that the organization went to extraordinary lengths to put the trip together in a fraction of the time usually allotted for such a tour. “Typically, it takes up to 45 days to arrange transportation, housing, production assistance and country clearances for entertainment tours,” Hanson said in a statement. “This tour was put together in just under two weeks, because we know how much service men and women appreciate his performances. Mr. Simmons let a lot of people down.” According to the USO, the rapper offered no explanation as to why he declined to fulfill his commitment.
