Kanye West Leads BET Award Winners, Eminem Makes Surprise Appearance

kanye_press.jpgKanye West was among the biggest winners at the sixth annual BET Awards last night (June 27) at a ceremony held in LA’s Shrine Auditorium. The Chicago rapper/producer’s hit video “Gold Digger” (featuring Jamie Foxx) took home trophies for Video of the Year and Best Collaboration. Other hip-hop honorees included T.I., who won for best male Hip-Hop Artist and Missy Elliott, who won for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist. The show also featured performances by T.I., Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes, who brought out an all-star lineup to perform “Touch It (Remix),” including Eminem. The Detroit MC’s freestyle at the end of “Touch It” marked his first major public appearance since the death of his right-hand man, Proof, earlier this year.

    They gave Kanye those awards so he wouldn’t cry in the press saying BET isn’t credible. That Eminem freestyle at the end was crazy. The whole Busta set was hype, but When Em came out at the end he took it to a whole new level. Can’t wait for him to put out another cd, hopefully not a piesce of trash like encore.

    Yeah, Em killed that, that performance was the best one. But apparently none of you saw the little pre-show where DMX performed some song way over in Arizona. Even though I don’t really like his part of the song that much, it would’ve been better if he was in the Touch It (Remix) performance and just popped up out of nowhere like everyone else and dropped his verse.
