Jay-Z Set to Tour the UK

jay_close2.jpgSemi-retired rapper and full-time record exec Jay-Z will kick off a five-date tour of the UK on September 21 with a show at the Manchester Arena. The rapper, who famously announced that his last LP, The Black Album, would be his final record, has not performed in the UK in over two years. The series of performances is being presented by MTV Base, which serves the United Kingdom and Ireland. In related news, Jay-Z will also be performing a special concert this Sunday (June 25) at Radio City Music Hall in NY to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

    I’m speaking for myself only…not all ladies! Jay is NOT OVERATED. Women don’t like him because he talks about labels! I like him because he is a lyrical genius. I fell in love with him as a lyricist when I first heard Reasonable Doubt in 1996 (not knowing what he looked like or knowing anything about him. I rocked that joint all summer and I ain’t even from up top! I wasn’t really into rap but he opened my eyes to some stuff. I mean everybody loved B.I.G. and I rocked his joint the whole summer of 1995…everyday!!! We used to blaze, eat crabs and recite Biggie like that was all that mattered. Then came Jay…Jay-Z…Jigga…Jigga Man…HOVA, etc…The man is a genius! He’s a business man!. Not a businessman!!! It’s all about that paper. What’s wrong with him touring the UK…a week outta the office…so what. Stop hatin on that man…go back and listen to Reasonable Doubt and watch Fade to Black as I do at leat once a week and you remember why we all fell in love with him in the first place!!! Just my 2 cents!!!

    Jay Z is above average as a lyracist, but not in the class of a Tupac or Biggie. I think extensive promo and smart moves helped him the most. I am not hatin’ on him though because I think he is near genius in terms of promotion and reaching different markets.

    Jay Z is a good rapper but I still don’t look at him in the same class as Tupac or Biggie because he has never said anything to make me say “WOW!” and rewind his verse. When you listen to “Victory” on Puff’s album tell me you didn’t rewind Biggies verses over and over. When you listen to “Bomb First” on
    Tupac’s Makaveli album it get’s you in a zone. Jay Z has a somewhat unexciting flow–and voice. I’m not sayin’ he aint a good rapper…I just think he came out at the right time, and that if he wasn’t from New York he would not be hailed as one of the greatest–just good. I also think he is very bright when it comes to making moves and expanding his fan base. I really have gained a lot of respect for him recently, when he stopped supporting that racist Frederic Rouzaud and stopped carrying Cristal in his club. Most of the rich, white company owners think the way Rouzaud does; he just fucked up and voiced his thoughts. More blacks should follow Jay Z’s lead and stop giving these racist crackers free advertisement by rapping about their liqour, clothes, and jewelry in their songs.
