Turk Ordered by Judge to Pay $10 Million Settlement
Former Cash Money artist and Hot Boys member Tab “Turk” Virgil was ordered yesterday (May 24) to pay a $10 million settlement to Officer Chris Harris, the Shelby County S.W.A.T. team member he is accused of shooting in January 2004. According to Memphis’s Commercial Appeal, police were raiding a Memphis-area apartment in search of drugs when officer Harris was struck four times after opening a closet. Harris still has a bullet lodged in his back and has undergone several surgeries since the incident. Turk, who prosecutors say was the shooter hiding in the closet, has repeatedly denied the allegations. He is currently serving a 10-year sentence on weapons charges stemming from the same incident. This past April, he entered an Alford plea in the actual shooting, which is similar to a guilty plea but allows the defendant to dispute certain allegations.
