Mobb Deep’s Blood Money Debuts at #3

mobbdeep.jpgQueens hip-hop duo Mobb Deep sold roughly 108,000 copies of their seventh album, Blood Money, in its first week, landing at #3 on the Billboard 200 album charts. This marks their highest chart position since 1999’s Murda Muzik, which also debuted at #3. The new album is the group’s first release with G-Unit/Interscope after a brief stint at Jive.

    couple reasons why m.o.b.b. flopped

    1. single was leaked way too early i had it on my itunes on the 25th january album eventually came out may 2nd go figure

    2. album got leaked too early as well ( like 2-3 weeks before release date)

    3. a lot of die hard and normal mobb deep fans were dissappointed with the mob when they signed felt they sold out, tatoos didnt help.

    4. too many 50 features on the album a lot of g-unot niggers that previously felt mobb hated this. 50 was on buck and buck 3 times yayo 4 why make this ur most frequent cameo shit when he knew niggers were weary about this alliance

    5. although has got a few good reviews here n der a lot of shitty reviews on major sites means niggers expecting garbage n dey aint gonna buy anythin

    6. single again( damn i think this song is fire) did absolutely nothing streets didnt really feel it white people didnt hear it after the success of outta control remix they shooda gone that route fuck the streets 50 is a very sales orientated individual im suprised he didnt go for typical 1st single club banger e.g.:
    in da club
    on fire
    let me in
    how we do
    candy shop
    so seductive
outta control remix (re-release of massacre)

108,000 copies…..now tell me, was it worth selling your soul for that? Listen, I understand that business is business and 50 made you rich but was the money worth it? Was it worth becoming a soldier instead of remaining a leader? It makes me sick everytime I hear Hav and P refer to 50 as the boss….not for nothing but the Mobb Deep that I loved would have told 50 where he could stick his money. Let me know when they return….

  • http://www.FUKKtheMoBB.50cent fukk the mobb

this is just boring.the cd is wack as fukk.

  • Just_Ice

Yall are crazy. They debut #3 on the billboard chart. That’s not a success then what is. How many records do you think they would have sold in any other situation. I think the cd is decent and it does not feature 50 that much. he is only on like three joints and they kept their mobb feel also. i think the album is in no ways a classic but it is definitley worth 10 dollars.

  • killer loop

stop with all the hate yo whats wrong with two young niggas wantin better them selfs, plus they are now workin with some of the hottest names in the biz dre, scot storch if you listened to the album the flow is still tight and you know why cause they dont care what the haters think cause they thugs

Mobb Deep: Got Rich And Stopped Trying
    Wednesday – May 10, 2006
    Andreas Hale
This classic observation of the Mobb Deep album doesn’t come from just another rapper, it comes from a fan. Phonte, 1/3 of Little Brother, posted this blog originally on his message board (link below) and has since made its rounds on the web. For those who have never read a blog from Phonte, strap yourself in because the kid says what many of us think but don’t necessarily speak out loud. So after having people call me, email me and IM me about this sincere take on Blood Money (and making many a writer jealous with this candid piece of work), I choose to give Tay a ring to see if he was cool with Hiphopdx.com posting his brutally honest opinion. After being reluctant at first, Tay obliged (Thanks fam, this piece of writing needs to be read) and now HipHopDX.com brings to you “Got Rich and Stopped Trying”, Phonte’s take on the career of Mobb Deep, in all of its glory (and we hope to get more of these treats from Phonte in the future). Enjoy!

Mobb Deep is gone. Club Mobb is what you have now. And you can either take it or leave it.

To me the last classic, dark, moody, make-me-wanna-open-fire-on-a-group-of-innocent-schoolchildren Mobb Deep single was “Quiet Storm.” Hav and P were sharp as ever on the boards and on the mic respectively……and then…….

    Enter Hov.

I’m sorry…..but I’ve never seen ANY emcee past or present be as VISIBLY affected by a dis as Prodigy was by that Summer Jam screen. All of a sudden, the same emcee who gave us countless quotables for 3 albums sounded as flustered and unfocused as ever. Hell, most of the time he wasn’t even RHYMING….. Thus, we saw the beginnings of what I call “Club Mobb”, a group that had had their street cred tested so many times (see: unfavorable incidents with TruLife and Keith Murray), that they figured ‘**** it…..let’s take *****s to the club’ and the results ranged from dope (“Burn”), to dope-once-it-grows-on-you (“Got It Twisted”), to horrid (“Hey Luv” feat. 112).

    So what exactly happened?

Most people don’t realize that the magic of Prodigy (and Mobb for that matter), lied in Prodigy’s first bars. Literally……Prodigy has some of the most classic and memorable first bars in hip hop history, and that made for their best singles. Don’t believe me?

“I got ‘chu stuck off the realness…..” -Shook Ones

“The saga begins…..we go to war/ I draw first blood be the first to set it off….” -Hell On Earth

“I put my lifetime in between the paper lines….” -Quiet Storm

    “I break bread, r i b s, hunnid dolla bills….” -Keep It Thoro

Now as you listen to Blood Money try to find that bar. Dig through that album and search for that one line…..that ONE bar from Prodigy that made you and your mans rap along in unison like “I used to be in love with this ***** named E&J/ don’t **** with her no more now I **** with Tanqueray” from “Drink Away The Pain.”

You can’t find it, ’cause its not there.

For better or worse depending on how you look at it, Havoc is now the best MC in Club Mobb. I take my hat off to him. Dude sounds hungrier than ever. And although P still has his moments (his verse on “Capital P, Capital H” is dope), for most of the album he’s the same rambling, non-rhyming, unfocused guy that he’s been for the past few years. He really sounds clinically depressed. It’s sad.

So aside from its obvious artistic shortcomings, what does G-Unit have to do with people’s hate for Blood Money?

    Honestly……everything.

Like I told y’all so many times, even in regards to my OWN career…..in this game, PERCEPTION is reality.

And if people’s general perception is that you cashed in 13 years of hard-earned respect for a Porsche…

AND you’re rollin with the industry’s hot new franchise boy (who DISSED you a year earlier, mind you)……

AND gave him total control of your album…

AND engaged in blatant cock-sniggling in interviews and on records by referring to him as Curtis Billion Dollar Budget Jackson…….

AND the only features on the record are G-Unit (no Noyd or any other QB *****s)…….

Then what is the general consensus?

“Maaaaaan, them Mobb Deep *****s sold the **** out,” that’s what.

Now personally, I have no problem with an artist selling out, or cashing in (however you look at it)….but I understand the ramifications of it. And the fact remains that when you sell out: 1) it damn sure better be financially worth it so that you NEVER have to sell out again, and 2) your post sell-out records better be artistically ****ing BULLETPROOF. I mean, you better make the record of a lifetime or else there will be hell to pay.

And from the looks of things, Mobb may fail on both counts.

Cats are trashing the record left and right. Most die-hard Mobb fans have written them off by now. As dope as “Put ‘Em In Their Place” is it ain’t gon’ get the 106 and TRL’ers, so those diamond numbers they were shooting for are looking more like Yayo’s.

Not to place all the blame on 50, because truthfully, the songs he’s featured on are among the best on the album. And I always thought “Outta Control” was dope, because it felt like a natural progression for Club Mobb…..it was the grown and sexy Club Mobb and it knocked. The same can’t be said for “Give It To Me” and “Backstage Pass.” They are club attempts that sound forced and honestly, are downright laughable.

I will always hold Hav and P near and dear to my heart, and they will always be viewed as hip-hop legends to me because of their first 3 albums (honorable mentions go to H.N.I.C and Free Agents tho). But I gotta call a spade a spade.

For longtime Mobb Deep fans, “Blood Money” pretty much confirmed our worst fears of what we thought a G-Unit/Mobb Deep partnership would bring forth:

Our boys done got rich and stopped trying.

  • killer loop

are you thick stop the hate love the cash cow and dont read no other shit bar this

  • INTERSCOPE JACKSON

    DON’T HATE CONGRADULATE
    M.O.B.B IZ BACK SUCKERS

    GEEZ UP, HO’Z DOWN

  • blackman

First you need to stop with all the hate because it is the number three album on billboard and number 1 selling rap album. The haters act like they were beaten out by other rap act obviously no rappers are selling a lot of copies this week.

Ps if anyone soul their soul it was Nas getting down with Jay-z after that nigga fucked his baby moms behind his back only to make subliminal rhymes about it. He now has been taken over for real.

  • Gman

I’ve gotta say, the album wasn’t dat bad compared to some of the shit dats out now, however 50 cents and the original G-Unit members have just used P & H to market themselves.

Mobb should have kept it real and not succombe to the devils tempting!

…..GUnit Tattoes wats the world coming too!!!

  • blackman

I must say it’s very funny how you guys hate on mobb saying they are selling out when Fat Joe and Jadakiss have a song with Paris Hilton (who called blacks niggas) but they get a free pass. Also they say how 50 dissed mobb in piggy bank when mobb, and 50 never done diss songs against each other. While you give Nas a free pass for signing with Jay-z and def Jam but if Nas would have sign with g-unit you would have said he sold his soul.

  • Mr agee

108,000 thats not good at all. I think they should have taken the independent route. 108,000 they could have sold that in a month and had just as much money when they signed to gunit. And they so much control of their destiny 50 Would not be all over their album

  • alleyeCNTower

this was not worth the G-Unit-ization of our beloved Infamous Mobb Deep.

the album is their WORST album yet. absolutely.

    beats and rhymes: not classic.
    concepts and ideas: nothing new.
best MC on the album: 50 Cent.

that’s when you know that things aren’t good…

and there’s not much on this album that will bring it back to life with the people… maybe the Mary J. Blige song, though… the other club songs suck, but there are a few decently mediocre songs on the album…

not a single song can fuck with ‘Shook Ones Pt. 2′, or even a song like ‘Burn’.

from a Mobb Deep fan who knows all the words to ‘Peer Pressure’, and loves the song they did with DJ Premier on that album (only the true heads know), I say:

Blood Money can’t cleanse your soul from committing your worst hip hop sins.
    :)

  • mr. undisputed the mogul

1ST I AGREE WITH PHONTE TOTALLY, PLUS IF YOU LISTEN TO MOBB DEEP EVERYTHING IS REDUNDANT(SAME SHIT EVERY CD) IF YOU LISTEN TO AMERIKAZ NIGHTMARE ON PRACTICALLY EVERY SONG THEY BRAGGED ABOUT ALL THE NEW BIG MONEY THEY WERE GONNA MAKE FROM THEIR NEW 50/50 JOINT VENTURE WITH JIVE. 1 YEAR LATER THEIR BRAGGING ABOUT PORCHES ETC.BUT ACCORDING TO THEM THEY WERE ROLLING IN DOUGH ALREADY, PLUS A PORSCHE IS’NT A ROLLS ROYCE OR MAYBACH. AS FOR THE G-UNIT HOOK UP NORMALLY SELLING 100,000 COPIES WEEK 1 WOULD BE A NICE JUMP OFF HOWEVER IT HAS CONTINUED THE TREND OF FALLING 1ST WEEK NUMBERS FOR G-UNIT RECORDS, LOOK AT THEIR LAST 3 RELEASES (POST GAMES CD).GHOSTFACE IS RESPECTED BUT NEVER REALLY EVER AS COMMERCIAL AS “THE MOBB” YET HE SOLD MORE THAN THEM WITH WAY LESS HYPE & PROMOTION!!!PS COP LITTLE BROTHERS CD THE MINSTREL SHOW IT’S A CLASSIC JUST ASK ANYONE WHO OWNS IT! PEACE

  • Ima Emcee 2

To all the people who hating on Mobb Deep and saying “They sold thier soul”
If you where in Mobbs position and 50 Cent offered you a HUGE oportunity what would you say Yes Or No?………..I think we all know the anser. And its not just the money but people have said Hav And P are the happiest they seen them in a long time!

  • sac representer

I’m wit’ blackman on this y’all hatin just ‘cuase it’s g-unit and they on top and nobody likes it but me.

    916 Baby, GO DUMB!!!

  • mr. undisputed the mogul

AND BEFORE ANYONE TAKES OFFENSE TO WHAT I WROTE IT’S ALL TRUE. I’M NO HATER, I’VE COPPED PRCATICALLY ALL OF THE G-UNIT CD’S, BUT JUST THINK WITH ALL OF THE CLASSIC CD’S & JOINTS THEY’VE CREATED, THIS “BLOOD MONEY” CD ACTUALLY DID’NT EVEN SELL 1/2 OF WHAT TONY YAYO’S 1ST EVER CD DID ITS 1ST WEEK. THE QUESTION ALL THE MOBB DEEP FANS AS WELL AS THE GROUP SHOULD ASK IS NOT WILL WE GO DIAMOND BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OUR FANS FROM THE “MURDER MUZIK”. UNLESS THE NEXT SINGLE IS THE JAM OF THE WHOLE SUMMER AT BEST THEIR LOOKING AT #’S OF AROUND 600-700,000 COPIES SOLD, WHICH WOULD BE A SLAP IN 50′S FACE SINCE HE DISSED “KISS” BY SAYING 947,000 IS NOT PLATINUM!!!

  • Lee

blood money is not there best cd
but it is better than there past two cd’s the only beef i have with this cd is way two many 50 feat songs.
click click is good because of how havoc flipped the knight rider beat infomous is dope the song with young buck was dope as well but thats where the props stop. they did not sell out fat joe jadakiss doing a song with paris hilton is selling out
    but you already know that.
this is a g-unit album not a mobb deep cd. You can blame Jay Z Tru Life Keith Murrey 2Pac all you want but Prodigy is never coming back even dissing god and jesus well not bring him back as top MC Havoc is a better mc now as well as a dope producer so i got nothing bad to say about him but like other people have said there are no collaboration’s with there friends like big noyd or 40 glocc. They should have had more Alchemist tracks overall not there best cd

  • P P

why the fuck are people saying the flopepd they got the fuckin #3 album in the country if that isnt good what the fuck is good

  • http://www.myspace.com/infiniteblackhole.com Mike

shits weak mayne…fuck what anybody else say. Mobb Deep is gone

  • ALBEAZY007

Ive been serious about MOBB DEEP for years goin back to the 2nd album(who didnt sleep on juvenile hell?) and for all these years mobb was that 1 reliable NY source, Hav and alchemits beats, and P’s hooks. even the mixtape beats were infamous beats. I have been away in the army for 4 years and all of us new yorkers we had this common hip hop bond and Mobb Deep held it down for us new yorkers intown and out. BUT NOW with this watered down G Unit s*it. A great legacy ends. I mean mobb got there money, dumped their Infamous sound, WHERE WAS NOYD AND INFAMOUS MOBB on this album? Alchemist had only 1 track, And Sha Money XL doin mobb beats is the wrong colaboration. It was so bad that the same day I bought the cd, I sold it to someone else by nightfall cause the shit sucked, hope im not the only 1 that can see thru 50′s bullshit puppet show. 1 last thing DIDNT NORE AND MOP sign with G Unit? so intoehr words if Mobb fell off, does this mean that MOP gonna do dance tracks? god I hope not but then again look at mobb deep. LAST THING WHY CANT THE EAST COAST UNIFY AND GET OUR SHIT TOGETHEAR LIKE LA(WEST) AND ATL(SOUTH) Busta is onto sumthin but with shit like this our reign ontop of hip hop like back in the days remains dead with BIG, pac and WTC

  • ALBEAZY007

“Somehow the rap game reminds me of the crack game”-Nas so when will we be awarded the Pure real hip hop and not all this flour and baby powder G Unit expects the world jus 2 buy all that over rated, over pirced commercial bullshit that its getting harder and harder to turn away from, this weak east coast shit is like a plague, and how New yorkers have the nerve 2 be mad when other new yorkers that get to leave NY and come back talkin about how crunk the south is, and how west stay doin they thing. its gonna take more than that 1 New York busta song to undue all this nonsense East Coast raps finds itself deeply in today.

  • WACC WALL KILLA

108,OOO YOU TELL ME DAT’S NOT GOOD I BET FAT HO DIDN’T SALE DAT MANY RECORDS IN 2 MONTHS I’M NOT DISSAPOINTED BECAUSE IN DIDN’T EXPECT THEM TO SELL TAHT MANY RECORDS ANYWAYS I ALWAYS THOUGHT THEY WOULD GO GOLD BECAUSE IT’S A G-UNIT RECORD YOU GUARANTEED AT LEAST A GOLD RECORD BUT I DON’T THINK ANY OF DA NEW G-UNIT ARTIST ARE GOING EXCEPT MAYBE FOR SPIDER AND HOT ROD BUT M.O.P I DON’T THINK IS GOIN TO SELL OLIVIA I DON’T THINK IS GONNA SELL WILLY NORTHPOLE I DON’T THINK GONNA SELL BUT I KNOW BUCK AND BANKS ARE GOING TO DO BETTER THAN THERE 1ST ALBUMS MA$E MIGHT SELL BUT I’M NOT SURE ABOUT THAT

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THE GAME’S ALBUM IS GONNA SELL LIKE 2MIL DA FIRST WEEK WHEN IT COMES OUT ON FEBRUARY THE 31ST

    GET IT!!!!!!(LMFAO)
    ANYWAYS MAN FUCC WACC WALL

  • BIG D from harlem

dawg sighnin wit 50 was the best carrer move fo sho.. he is prolly the richest rapper out right now and hes got sick marketing skills the album is at #3 wuts wrong wit dat? GGGGGGGG G-UNIT

  • bhillboy

maybe mobb deep ain’t all that popular.

  • http://www.myspace.com Rey

Mobb Deep, huh? Weren’t those the guys that had that album with that song with Raekwon on it? Like back in ’95? What’s that? Half the people on here were like 8 in 1995? Wait-what’s that? Half the people on here only know Mobb Deep cuz their older brothers or cousins liked them? Ohhhh.. Okay. That’s what I thought. Mobb Deep is just plain sad.

Curtis Wackson & the Gimmick Unit is on about 14:59 right now.

If M.O.P. is smart they’ll just cut right to ditching G-Unit for another label.. Let’s face it, whenever MOP’s album drops, we’re gonna be saying the same things about them. Wait.. Did I say “when” their album drops? I meant “If.”

MOP-Deep never really sold, and they sure as shit aren’t gonna sell now, partially thanks to the Putrid Rap Environment that CurtiScope Wackson ushered in.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go listen to my copy of “The Documentary”, just cuz I know it’ll piss you guys, and Curtis, off.

    —-Rey—-

  • bhillboy

i’m of the impression that a lot of groups have die hard fans that make a lot of noise but in general they aren’t very popular. mobb been out majorly for about 13 years and for that time span they have a decent discography. just think of how many so called “live” groups have come and gone since then. the fact that they sell 100k debut and are still relevant is a testament to their skills. the real reason why they didn’t sell has less to do with 50 or mobb its that most of the country hasn’t really been feeling new york based rappers for the last 3 years. other parts of the country feel disrespected by the attitudes of newyorkers. calling us country and whatnot. now that other regions have their own multiplat stars catering to our needs we no longer look to newyork to tell us what’s hot. we have our own hot sh!t. Look, the real case for the death of newyork will be DMX’s next album. now this is a candidate for raps top ten alltime. lyrics. check. swagger. check. trouble. check. multiplats. check. i don’t hear the streets pumping his new song and if that falls flat, hang it up newyork you’ll never get back the crown.

  • http://www.myspace.com Rey

Okay Down South Boy, you got my ignorant up. Everyone in this world knows that the best Rap Music, The Best Hip Hop, the best “thumpa thumpa, motherfucker” music (as my Papa would say), comes from New York.

The south has like 5 lyricists and a million and one novelty acts.

Watch your fuckin’ mouth when talking about NY hip hop.

  • Ian

The top selling rap album. I’ll say that I was wrong saying that it would do 250,00 but still #3 out of 200. That’s still good, but you expect more from G-unit, but that just shows thet’re just what they are a record company. Last year wasn’t a good year sales wise for records, even with 50, mariah, and kanye dropping within months of each other. Sales have been going down for a while now, but to sell 108,000 the first week isn’t bad. They still have a chance to go plat, Keyshia cole sold 97,000 the first week and went plat. They just have to play the singles right, and that means no give it to me but the It’s alright song. That’s a strong 2nd single. Stop hating, they still sold a good number, but like I said if it’s G-unit you expect more. 108,000 isn’t bad, if this had come out in the late 90′s then it’d have done way more, b/c that was when the industry was at it’s best. NY hip hop has been dying since Jay left, this just goes back to what I said 50 is what’s keeping NY relevent.

  • Ian

Oh and don’t start with that they sold out bullshit, because Joe and Jada just did a song with Paris Hilton. If that ain’t being a sellout then what is? The main reason hip hop sales are down is b/c we as a black community don’t support our artists, and buying bootlegs don’t count. It’s a reason why Eminem is about to pass 2pac in sales and why Rock groups are selling as much. Not trying to be racist, but White people support their acts. 564,000 the first week, that’s the highest debut this year. There are a handful of country acts that have sold 100 million records, why b/c they support each other. Music is going to die out if an end isn’t put to bootleging albums. Support our artists stop hating and acting like label heads, if you’re not getting paid to do it, then leave it to people like xxl.

  • Jeezy 03

They should have named this album Amerikaz Nightmare….because they were some of NYs last hopes and they sold out for 50….if you havent read XXL’s article about how 50 is ruining rap music…read it…this is a great example

  • IRONMAN

fuck Phonte, everone’s entitled to their opinions, but being that he’s an artist in the rap game at this very moment, he crossed the fucking line yo. I hope the Mobb gets at that nigga, for real, I aint talking on the mic either. That nigga fucked up big time. Blood Money is not better than any of the classic Mobb albums, but its way better than most of the releases to come out so far this year. “the Infamous”, “Capitol P,Capitol H”, “Put Em in Their Place” are all crack, plus there are more joints than that. True rap fans need to stop expecting these artists to repeat classic material. Nas is never going to make another Illmatic, the Wu is never going to make another 36 Chambers and the Mobb is never going to make another Infamous. That doesnt mean everything they put out now is wack. Ya’ll niggas need to wisen up. Peace

  • Livin’ Proof

Damn, the hate runs deep on here. More than 100,000 in first week sales and #3 on the charts is great. How many of you so-called fans ran out and bought their last album? There’s no loyalty with fans man, don’t hate cuz they signed wit 50, anybody would do that if they had a chance to…I’m proud of them niggaz, get money, fuck haters…1

  • PAYCHEXX

NOW MOBB DEEP YALL DIDNT NEED G-UNIT. YALL COULD HAVE WENT THE INDIE ROUTE SOLD THE SAME AMOUNT OF RECORDS AND WOULD HAVE BEEN PAID. I LOVE ALL THE OLD RECORDS BUT I HEARD BLOOD MONEY THROUGH MY MANS AND I DONT LIKE IT. GIVE IT TO ME BABY, HAS TO BE ONE OF THE WACKEST CLUB SONGS EVER, I MEAN MY FAVORITE SOLIDER(YOUNG BUCK) COULDNT SAVE THAT SONG. MOBB, EVERYBODY CANT MAKE CLUB SONGS, I MEAN NAS CANT DO IT EITHER, I MEAN REAL STREET MCS AND GROUP SOUND FUNNY DOIN THAT SHIT. HAVOC IT SEEMS LIKE IT TIME TO MAKE THAT SOLO ALBUM FOR REAL. A LOTTA CATS WOULD BUY THAT SHIT FOR REAL. MOBB DEEP WAS LIKE THE FIRST DIPLOMATS, YALL HAD A MOVEMENT ON YALL OWN. IM NOT MADD YALL GOT THE MONEY, BUT… DUN. WHAT HAPPEN TO ” 13 YEARS IN THE PROJECTS MY MENTALITY IS WHAT!”

  • bhillboy

rey, i ain’t from down south. i just tell you what i hear at peoples houses, at the bbq and coming out of peoples cars. newyork got a million and one lyricists with doodoo production and if you say that the dipset isn’t a novelty act you have no credibilty. i know its hard when you were on top and now you have to respect other styles but you don’t have to hate to have an opinion.

  • bhillboy

if it wasn’t for 50 cent, scott storch, and dr.dre- there wouldn’t be 1 newyork rapper with a hot beat. This is a challenge—–A CHALLENGE for you-Rey- or whoever got his back-to name one hot beat from a newyork rapper that’s not connected to these 3 in some way. by hot beat i do mean hot and on the hot 100 chart. so , a hot beat with a newyork rapper that people are actually buying. CHALLENGE!

  • bhillboy

That’s what i’m talking about all these newyork rap dick riders not being grown enough to say that the sh!t thats been put out by your town has been sh!tty lately. and acting like its the consumers fault that we don’t like the music. y’all need to get a life.

#3 out of 200 albums thats not too damn bad!

  • JP

yea mobb deep got rich and stop tryin, i’m gonna get the bootleg cd, i dont wanna make da sell outs more rich.

  • Charles

Ok everyone listen….I’m from Jersey and I’m an East Coast hip hop fan. Now let’s address a few things….first of all, Mobb’s new album is average at best. Not one single joint on there is a certified banger nor is there one rhyme on there that you’ll always remember. Am I mad at Mobb for “selling out”? Yeah a little….but that’s only because I’ve supported them since Juvenile Hell and I expected more from them. It’s not always about the cash, sometimes you have to stand up like a man and not compromisse your artistic integrity just to try and sell a few more records. Which by the way, they’re not going to do with this album. Hav and P were generals and now they’re just puppets in the G-Unit system. And thats a damn shame. Now lets move on to the current state of NY hip hop. As much as I love NY lets be real with ourselves….we haven’t been hot for a minute. Are there still artists from NY that are trying to hold it down? Absolutely. Pick up a copy of Fishcale if you need any further proof…..but the majority of artists and music coming from NY right now just isn’t getting the job done. Papoose, who’s supposed to be the next big thing, is garbage. Dipset? Please, let’s not even go through. The only consistency they’ve brought to NY is consistent trash albums. You can count on them to always go double wood. We’re being outshined by almost everyone else and this is the birth place of hip hop. So who’s going to stand up for us? Who’s gonna provide us with that pride and feeling we got when a new Biggie joint dropped? Remember the first time you heard Who Shot Ya? Tell me that wasn’t the illest thing you ever heard in your life! NOBODY is repping for us like that anymore. I still have hope though. I’m praying that someone will come along from NY and put us back on top where we rightfully belong. In the meantime, lets stop hating on the West and the South just because they got their game tight. Maybe if NY artists got their shit together and stopped all this bs beefing we can reclaim our spot and stop crying about the death of hip hop. So I’m making a plea to Wu-Tang, Jay-Z, Nas, whoever….we need you right now. We’re getting killed out here and we need you to stand up for your city. Have some pride and put NY on your back. We got you if you got us……..

  • Knuckz

108000 is good if you’re an artist signed to a regualar label, but when you’re backed by one of te hottest camp that is not good. Mobb (mainly Prodigy) popped all that trash and for what, 108000 units? I hope they saved their advance because being a business man, 50 is not going to accept those numbers. At least M.O.P. didn’t pop trash. I would like to see M.O.P. succeeed.

  • BK Boy

man that mobb deep album is garbage..how the fucc did that sh*t get an xl rating??…u dumb niggas acting like 108,000 copies is something..lets not forget that bum ass grandpa yayo sold 272,000 his 1st week and he DIDNT EVEN GO GOLD!!!!!being on g-unit did not help them niggas in no way..they went PLATINUM on LOUD RECORDS..so what is yall telling me??…now the funny thing is that that lil groupie ass nigga prodigy got g-unit tattoed on his hand..now what happens when 50 does a game move and kicks they ass out of g-unit??..cuz at the end of the day its all about selling and making money..and 108 aint cuttin it

  • _jAy_

G-Unit bout to go platinum off of Comments…..Once AGain! Anyways I ain’t gonna say the album is garbage cause it has its moments..Half ya niggas bring up that oh they soft now they soft they ass but then again ya over there cock-ridin niggas like Juelz and Camron….What kind of music u think the Dipset bitches is makin..Yeah they talk alot about crack and hustlin but c’mon dawgs…U gonna suck it or not? Anyways back to the Mobb..Alchemist is still there rockin..G-unit gets the grimiest beats..Hav and P are still Hav and P you dumbasses..Signing a contract doesn’t change everything…THey still got their own label under 50..If ya knew anything ya would know that this first album under G-Unit is to get a wider fan base…Once that is done..In come the grimey shit ya like..Along with some solid tracks to bump in the whip or maybe the club..Ya know ya was feeling Outta Control…Ya gotta get ya shit right man..And i’m talkin to all ya fools ^^^

  • ripsta

g-unit is on top???? awww hell naw. g-unit is finished cuz 50 oversaturated us with this g-unit talk. mobb deep sold out and flopped. sales for g-unit are down nobody cares bout olivers new album coming out. they done.

  • Be_real

Let’s be real, 108,000 records under the Interscope marketing machine is a flop. Tony “Why am I rapping” Yayo did 200,000+ his first week, and we all know how his album sales ended up. I’m predicting that they are still not GOLD by the end of July. Tough luck niggas, there’s always FUBU!

  • leo

wow, every1 of u haters are retarted, lol. umm number 3 on da chart is not bad, espically wen da top 2 werent rap albums meaning blood money is the highest selling rap album. wow. anyway they just shot a videp for give it to me baby featuring young buck which should up some more sales. fat joe and jadakiss making a song wit paris hilton makes me sick. and nas signing to be under jay z? wudnt u call dat selling your soul? no u call it rappers making peace. how the fuck is putting the guy dat beat u lyrically under u makin peace? da bitch is now da boss, n da boss is da bitch. 50 is runnin thangs like a evil genius. hes da bad guy every1 loves to hate, if it wasnt 4 him mobb deep would be borke, but dats wut the hardcore fans want i guess. so fuck all of you.

  • INTERSCOPE JACKSON

Congratulations to M.O.B.B, for debuting at # 3 very good
numbers, considering they basically had no video, or radio spins, at all, from the media 108,000 copies is really impressive.
the album will definetly go plat eventually, after a hot video or two.

dont be mad people mobb deep is immortal, there hear to stay
    hate it or love it.

  • Mobb Deep Fan

I personally think the album is a classic. Mobb Deep been gettin hated on ever since they signed with G-Unit (Thats been treatin them better then any other lable they’ve been on). A lot of artists are lucky to be in the top 10 on the album charts and they #3 right now, these are good numbers considering this is the highest they’ve ever been on the charts PERIOD! Everybody wanna act like they know everything and yes ppl have their own opinion. Hateration needs to stop though fo real, you aint gotta like em just cuz they on G-Unit (which is a crazy reason not to like them), but at least show some respect to a group thats been doin this rap shit for a long time. Mobb Deep keep doin ya thing and congratulations on the #1 “Rap Album” in the country.

  • bob

xxl the only muthafukas talkin about them and they shitty ass album. Get some balls and talk about something we care about. Curtis shouldnt be running yall too.

  • JP

fuck mobb deep! get da bootleg or download it! you still gonna hear it but dont give them money. Time foe the WEST COAST to do there thing with ice cubr coming soon and the game. (G-UNOT)

  • Vindi

LMAO – was it worth signing with G-Unit? Hell no, it will go Gold and that’s all it deserves the album is the worst for years, Murda Muzik, Infamy, Amerikaz Nightmare & Free Agents CD kills the latest release. Phonte go it down to a tee its Club Mobb. I’m a fan for years but signing with the unit was only gonna mean a huge lose of faith for the fan base. The production was always a string point, G-Unit use too many unknown producers fair enough they may give you the odd gem but in general go with what u know, which unknown can make a better beat than Hav on his worst day, or The Alchemist, why not cos its cheaper to produce and cheaper to budget. You put shit in you will get shit out of it and that’s what Mobb Deep got.

  • blackman

First off some of you don’t have a clue of the music industry. Mobb deep was drop by jive records so they didn’t have a record deal so 50 cent offered them a good contract and a label deal with infamous records. Secondly the mobb is representing New York which has to be the most ungrateful hip hop fans in the world. All the do is complain when a nigga is not out and then when a nigga drop they cop the bootleg like you doing the artist a favor. In the next 5 years New York won’t even put out 5 platinum albums. Some of you clowns need to let Big rest in peace and help feed some of your living artist.None of these artist went platinum on their last albums.
    Example
    ghostface
    camron
    nas
    Taleb
Ps no other rappers except 50 cents,Banks,Jay-z went platinum on their last album

  • the black male model

    lol G-unot
    u fucking supastars?
I swear Nas, game sold more than u dudes in their first week u weak ass faggots

  • stevenson of florida

blood money is mobb deep’s worst album but it’s still hotter than your favorite rappers album. I been a fan of The Mobb since ’93 they were alot better when they first came out and i do believe their hook up with gay-unit is bad but what can i do? peace god one love.

  • READ THIS

Ok I am getting sick and tired of these fuckin faggots sayin’ G-UNOT….Like seriously are you faggots 2 years old. My little brother can make up some shit better than that. And quit dissin’ Mobb Deep, they have way more fame now that there with G-Unit so shut the fuck up and start listening to some real music.

  • Ian

NY dead. I’m from the south, but love NY music as much as I do ours. We got the game on lock, but like I said you have to give them they props. Yayo at gold in the us and plat here. They’ll go plat, it just won’t be as fast as other G-unit cds. As for game selling more in the 1st week than them. Mobb Deep 1st single, “put em in they place” was just them. Game 1st 3 singles had 50 on it. “Westside story” “How we do” “Hate it or love it”. Then to top it off, people were waiting for 50 to drop another album. The world stopped when he dropped the first and it was on pause when he was about to release the 2nd. That’s why Game sold so much, b/c mainstream was waiting for 50. No one is waiting for 50 on his way to his 3rd cd and b/c of that he has to prove he can make another classic album. The mobb were on they own as far as singles went. With no radio and video play 108 isn’t that bad.

  • Flawless187

yo everyone knows da mobb was da illest back in da 90′s, but yo, rap is growing and u cantda mobb cant just stick to they old school ways like in hell on earth or wateva. If it wasnt for 50, Mobb Deep would of prolly been over. He made em richer than they were. If you were in there situation, you’d take the money and spit wit g-unit. Fuck i’d do it. Plus Mobb Deep aint too bad styll, their album is pretty nice, its way better than there last one amerikaz nightmare. I think ppl are just hatin on em. Plus, all you niggaz and bitches should get off of da mobb’s back. Cuz they made 7 albums now. They’ve been in da game for 14 yrs. They did wat they had to do back in da day wit there sick lyrics. Now they HAVE THE RIGHT TO SLACK OFF CUZ THEY ALREADY SHOW YALL DA FLEX BACK IN DA INFAMOUS, HELL ON EARTH AND MURDA MUZIK. So therefore they could do wateva the fuck they want .

  • Flawless187

SPEAKING SO FREELY and SMOKE IT are the illest tunes on BLOOD MONEY. No Doubt bout That. But yea word mobb deep should make at least one song and bring back they old style and ways forreal. AND THEY SHUD MAKE A MOTHAFUCKIN TRACK WIT BIG NOYD., i hope those mobb niggaz see dis shit. but they still ill.

  • dre

yo ian why u hatin on game when it comes to freestyles game will murder any nigga on g-unot i mean g-unit when game drop his next shit i bet he sell more than them old washed up mobb deep, mase, mop, llyod banks, tony old ass yayo to pussy. It’s just that niggaz buy bootleg instead of going to the store, it’s alot of good rappers in New York that make good music it’s just that when the bootleg man comes thru niggaz would rather spend $20 on four cd’s instead of on one

  • Ian

I never said Game was a bad rapper, just facts. His 1st cd was a classic, but take away the 50 tracks and it goes down a notch. As for his selling the 1st week. I never said he wouldn’t sell big the first week. He’s good, but I just pointed out a big reason why he did big numbers. One reason why he’ll do big is that by kicking him out of G-unit(even though he’s still signed) he gave him a promotional tool. Can The Game make a good album without 50 and G-unit? That’s going to be enough to make people go buy the record 1st week. 2ND fif did 1.5 in four days, off of anticpation of the new record, which had Candy shop as a lead record. That’s proof that when people are waiting for you that you can slack off. Game could do a song with Joel Madden(Oh he already did. MTV.COM) and make it a single and people would buy it. At the least he’ll do what the 1st album did. No hating, just being 100 with it. Oh and for the record I bought the 1st cd on Jan 18 and I’ll get this one when it first comes out. As for the other G-unit sales, Buck will come out strong, He’s from the south and the South runs hip hop right now. Mase isn’t signed yet, but if 50 can restore him to his former glory then it’s a problem because his first album did 4 million in the US.

  • Ian

Game will sell off the strength that it’s his 2nd cd, 50 living proof. The challenge is to make it a classic and not a good cd. That means good beats and songs. As for mase, 1st cd 4 million in the US. If 50 get him back to that then Damn!

  • Ian

    The Game new Album Delayed
    & Aftermath news

There are conflicting reports on whether The Game’s second album “THE DOCTOR’S ADVOCATE” will be out this year. The earliest that it will be out currently is August 29 but there are also reports that it will be delayed until next year. Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated album “Detox” as well as Bishop Lamont’s Aftermath debut “The Reformation” are scheduled for a Summer/Fall of 2007 release. It’s currently being decided which of those two albums will be released first.

    http://www.hiphopgalaxy.com/the-game-new-album-delayed-article3787.html
Now you see why I have doubts about the quality of the next cd. There was a reason why he took 2 yrs to drop the 1st time, because he can’t put songs together well. Bet he wishing he didn’t make those disses now.

  • EDDIE OF THE WESTCOAST

FUCK 50, AND MOBB DEEP, THEY WERE ONLY GOOD WHEN THEY CAME OUT WITH THE “INFAMOUS” ALBUM, SO FUCK MOBB DEEP TOO… WEST COAST, THE GAME… JUNE 16!! G-UNOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Guyman

I see a lot of hate down here.. Did u ever listen to that cd or just 2-3 joints out of it? they always have their mobb feel, 50 just appears on some hooks and dats it! and we can say that the boys became more open minded, just listen to the songs they rap on… u can hate, but don’t deny dat the boyz are HOT!

Dam, MotherFuckers sit on this bitch and talk lot of shit. First check this shit out, NO Radio, TV, or whatever stations, show Mob Deep LOVE. I am in Chicago, and no station play Mob Deep Music Like that. COme on now, These Two Hard working brother debuted at #3, with out no Media Help, that’s a blessing, thank God For them. 50 cent help Mob Deep for real, the last time they was #3 on the Billboard Chart, was in 1999. 2006-1999= 7 years. after 7 years of trash, G-Unit put these Niggas back on Track. Think God For G-unit. Because they helping lot of niggas that was not eatin out. But I like Blood Money, the Cd is so Gangsta. Click, Click is hot, Creep is Hot, Stole Somethnig is Hot, Speaking so Freely is hot, Chaptal P, Captal H, is hot, Plearly Gates in hot, Smoke It is hot, give it to me baby is hot, the whole dam cd is hot. Yayo always kill somebody else shit, why is that?

  • Mark CaVzzZ

damn, why yall care so much about how much money these niggaz is gettin? yall aint makin the money, so why u give a fuck? seriusly, it matters about how good the LYRICS are. only reason the south gettin top charts are cuz they got HOT BEATS. NY andthe whole east coast dont got that good beats. the lyrics of this album were terrible, beats ok, and g unit on the album was TERRIBLE.

  • OG psycho

G Unit has taken over the industry. Blood Money is a class album. Pearly gates and informous are hot man. Plus 108,000 aint bad for 1 week theh had no radio play or tv. Keep up the good work mobb. wait till all the g unit albums drop, 50,banks,buck then we really gone see that 50 a legend in the game.shady/aftermath/gunit 4 life, gggggg-unit.

  • keith c

yo mobb deeps album is hella tight it got some hott joints on it they did their thing on it.yo when is that new cat jeremiah matches coming out with an album?

  • Seth

Yo the dude Blackman is right. He makes a good point at how we are quick to say someone sold their soul (esp. anyone associated with G Unit), but don’t acknowledge others shortcomings. Look at Pac (and don’t get it twisted- I fuck with him heavy). Listen to Me Against the World and listen to All Eyez On Me. Are you telling me there is no difference in those two albums? Gritty, Street-wise songs like Outlaw to drone, questionable HITS like How Do U Want It and Rather Be Ya Nigga. Come on people. If you want to hate G Unit and say Mobb sold out then fine, but real recognize real and the shit people are saying about Mobb deep is fake. No the new album can’t compare to Murda Muzik but is it not better than the lackluster Infamy and the commercial Amerikaz Nightmare? Pac said it best- “I’m in it to make money.” The same people that diss G Unit praise Nas, as if he didn’t sell his soul not once, but twice. The new Mobb album is good, not great. But I will not discredit Mobb Deep and then turn around and praise someone else who is doing the same thing. The reason why hip hop is so lame now is because no one supports anything worth supporting. We throw in our hats for Nelly “Grillz” but won’t support “Put Em In There Place?” Hypocracy

  • Seth

And let me add that hip hop fans are more disloyal than Red Sox fans. Y’all do some heavy dick riding. All you want is for an artist to be broke and not shine. Praise Fabolous, but hate 50? Praise Fat Joe, but hate Mobb Deep? And for all you who think that G Unit is a bunch of followers, so what does that make Game’s crew, G Unot? I rest my case

  • fuckwhatu head

yall are stupid especially the faggets after me that will write something dumb ass fuck

  • Makaveli85

Y’all should be grateful the Don Makaveli died. With him still in the game MOBB would be dead and buried. At least you get to hear some shit by the Mobb. Be grateful. Shame ‘PAC’s music’s being ruined by people like Em not even fit to hold his mic for him. Fuck 50, Fuck Mobb. WESTSIDE for life!!!!! Scary thing is that all posthumous releases under Amaru and Tha Row have been better than anything 50 or Mobb have concocted. They still way behind the game

50 is wack. when his album flops yall gonna hop on the g-unot bandwagon. what happend to ja rule is gonna happen to 50. karma’s a bitch

  • Charles

Rashawn….I’m not hating on G-Unit. I like a lot of the shit they put out but facts are facts. If Mobb Deep would have signed for anything other than the money, which they’ve made it VERY clear that they have, then maybe it would be a different situation. Let’s be real, how much do you think 50 REALLY gave them?! 50′s not a fool so I’m sure he didn’t give them millions like they say. Now do I think tha album is wack? Nah, I wouldn’t go that far but it definitely isn’t hot either. And P has lost his swagger something fierce. You want to know why? Cause 50 pimped his ass and made him go commercial to try and sell a few more albums. Mobb Deep always did their own thing and never needed to jump on some bandwagon bullshit. The fans respected them for that but now they’re sitting in interviews calling 50 “the boss” and saying they’re just happy to please 50?! Come on man, that’s some bullshit. Like I said, P and Hav used to be generals and now they’re just puppets. I just hope one day Mobb wakes up and reclaims their independence.

Mobb deep fans like me dont want to hear them on a club song…the formula of a havoc beat and raw lyrics is what made them who they are…they shouldent try to move away from that.

Well let me start off by saying this. Jay-Z doesn’t own def jam. So Nas works for Jigga but Jigga works for La and La works for somebody else. But 50 works for 50 and like said he dissed Mobb Deep and they still sold out to him. But that’s really all the had so what do you expect. I never thought Mobb Deep were major artists. They need to stay in NY and do their thing. They did sell their soul for 108,000 copies. And what they maybe get 20 percent maybe. Yeah they got big up front money but where do you think 50;s end is gonna come from? That will be the best week by far. Not that much promotion at all, the singles were just ok not super bangers. and then they just don’t mix with G-unit. Same with MOP they just plain suck so why even wate your time. They haven’t had a hit since Antie Up, and god I hope they never drop. Mobb Deep won’t even sell a million copies. 50 has beef with every major NY act and their, supposed to be one of New Yokrs major groups is a slap in every other atrists face. I think the move was great for them but terrible for 50. He grew up listening to Mobb Deep so he didn’t make a business decision, he made his decision as a fan. Hell I liked MC Breed as a kid but I wouldn’t sign him today Big Daddy Kane, I mean The Great Rakim is having trouble comming back. As for Hav and P why would they not sign with 50. I would to if I had nothing to look forward to. Like said the jive deal was supposed to be 50/50. And that’s cool but not if you aren’t moving 500,000 records or more you get no money. The point is there are done and have been done for quite sometime. They lost all there real fans when they signed and they don’t have 50′s fans because they aren’t good enough to be super duper satrs. Banks, Buck, 50 even Yea Yo is better than them, well maybe not Yea Yo ha ha ha ha ha LOL

  • Babyboy

I would just like 2 make a point about wat most of u dum azz niggas bein sayin. Do u know what da fuck commercial means?? Commercial means da record or da album is selling a lot of copies, which most of u dum azz niggas think is bad, bein commercial is what most of da artist dream of, and let me tell u dat, i dont like Nellys muzik , but i have 2 say dat hes doin great, a praise him, his payin da bills, Mobb Deep turning comercial will b great 4 dem, it means dat more people is listening 2 deir musik, gettin bck 2 da old formula will just get their azz kick by da record label again, so when u guys say commercial think about wat u sayin, peace, Black is Beautiful…

  • Babyboy

oh yeah just 2 let u guys know, without commercial hip hop, there would b no hip hop clubs, dont tell me dat u wanna listen to, “dear mamma” in da club, there has 2 b a balance, some lyricly acclaimed some, club based, or like BIG was both, but hes special.. Vialonga all day, dats Portugal

  • ripsta

that commercial shit is cool but im tierd of everyone tryin 2 make a club record. lets be a lil more creative. i find myself listening 2 raps golden era the mid 90′s instead of this garbage they play on radio. and oh by the way Mobb Deep was shootin 2 sell about 400,000 copies thier 1st week not 108,000, so in mine and thier eyes they failed…..miserably! lol

  • http://gunitworld.com G UNIT STYLE

Mobb deep could have done those 1st week numbers wit any record label. I bet them niggas really thought they was gonna sell cause they signed wit gunit. Well I hope they put some of that signing deal money aside cause their gonna need it. They lost a lot of fans by signing wit gunit, they betta hope the streets embrace them back when 50 drops their asses.

  • ripsta

i used to like 50 untill he started singing bout his best friend, and sharing burgers and milkshakes with mase

  • Vitamin50

I’m a die-hard G-Unit soldier that will kill for General 50 Cent. Mobb Deep and 50 have made another classic album that blends the best of pop and harcore gangster rap. I call it GangPop. Blood Money is a classic GangPop album!!! If you disagree with me, email me at jnb2k5@yahoo.com and I’ll refund you your money! Long live the Unit.

  • Frost

First off, Mobb was the shit, grimey ass street for real. They were gettin old, not gettin sold, so they figured fuck it I could use a dollar, I been strugglin for so long. 50 Cent waived a fuck of a lot of those dollars in their face and like any smart person out the ghetto they snatched it. But instead of stabbing him, taking his chain and leaving him hospitalized like the REAL Mobb Deep would do. Two lifetime failures signed a big budget contract to become pop stars. Mobb Sleep ain’t shit, them days is gone, I figured it would come down to beef that would kill their career .. instead its Blood Money.

  • tender t

mobb have sold their souls and in turn sold no records…….

  • MOBB

Yo, Ima fan since 95, Yeah they fell off. Just be thankful they released ther older ish. Blood money mad me buy HNIC which I’ve been listening to for 2 weeks now. Alot better than blood money. I guess Ima old school mobb fan now, b4 g unit crap. Prodigy, u were a leader dunn not a soldier. Havoc, I’m disapointed, once u get the $$$ run and make ur own label already so we can hear the MOBB sound again. Put then in their place is the only decent song on here, rest is edited by 50 cent jackson and this guy Nyce ruined that capital P song pretty bad with his ignorant bullish at the beginning and end of the song like he knows who MOBB is. NYCe is a fan of Mobb, he has no business being on any Mobb deep record

  • MOBB

Dear Mr Curtis 50 cent Jackson. We are Mobb deep fans. Can you please make sure your boys are off the next Mobb Deep record. It kinda ruined everything. Let Havoc and Alchemist do their beats and they’ll go platinum again. its as simple as that. Prodigy, Yami would of been disapointed. Ur dunn would of never sold out. Don’t let a stupid pic of you in a balarina custome ruin your hunger. We all have taken stupid photos, maybe not in a ballarina costume but maybe a stupid hat or somthin. Cmon dunn, u were like 8. Thats should not effect u.
    I’m out

  • ripsta

hey cuz i feel what u sayin. these nigga’s were the definition of grimey. now they teamed up with the king of pop…….. im really dissapointed with them. mobb deep yall broke my heart

  • Ian

What are you talking about Havoc did half the beats on the album then you add in that this is the first G-unit cd, besides Buck, that didn’t have Em and Dre’s production on it, and they still did good 1st week. 2nd week had a decline of 68% 38,000 records. Okay now they’re done. I said this from the jump, 50 signed Mobb Deep and M.O.P to keep his name in the street and Mase to add more talent, another good song writer. Only problem with Mase is people weren’t feeling his comeback, b/c he was so into the church. He walked away from the spotlight at a time when he could have taken the throne left vacant by Big, b/c when double up dropped, Jay hadn’t began to feel the success that he would eventually have. Now he signed with G-unit?! People gone boycott that cd for real, unless he pulls a hit out of his ass. I think he can do it, because he’s not a bad songwriter. Only time will tell if that happens, b/c he’s still signed to Bad Boy and Puffy won’t let him go without making 50 pay an arm and a leg. Mobb Deeo will go gold by the end of the 3rd qt.

  • raze

look i think theres too many haters out there just spittin on g unit after all they have done in da game, they brought reality rap bak to focus in 2003,kind of da way snoop did exactly 10 yrs ago wit doggystyle,it was da dogg pound era,up untill da 2pac and biggie era endin 97,u had da nas and jay-z era up until 2002,and then reality rap got a big kick in 2003 wit g unit steppin on da scene. They have been controllin rap music and blowin up many artists,i mean u look at d block and them lott,u kinda think da only real developed artist they got from dat clique is jada, and then later on styles p had his moment of creativity, but dats it.U look at deez artists like young buck or lloyd banks who both went platinum, which aint eazy and their albums were far from commercial esp. young buck’s.u see game blowin up so dats already three COMPLETELY NEW ARTIST WIT TALENT AND RIGHT DIRECTION ON THE RAP SCENE.When was da last time a clique did dat,u might think rocafella(or death row,bad boy),and at sum level ure right esp. wit da numbers jay-z was puttin up but then again da forefront rappers like memphis bleek or beanie sigel didnt REALLY blow up.fact is its been a long time since we had such heavy contributions in rap,and it is building the foundations for the next generation of hip hop.
as far as the blood money album goes,i look out for good music always,i will buy game’s album and prolly buy a g unit album too,ya know so i aint biased,i just give more credit to g unit then most ppl out there, but i think blood money is a well rounded album, mobb wanted a complete sound to da album rather than various beats runnin everywhere, and da result?
well lets say i can play dis album many times over, theres such smoothness to the tracks and their flow, and u can see that this is da beginning of a new mobb deep, theyre still gangsta but theyre tryin to change da sound of da game.even 50 admitted there was a creative rut in da industry so im pretty sure mobb was aware that its time to stop reminiscin on those old days.dis comparison by ppl of their older and new days is ridiculous,it reminds me of when ppl said that snoop’s doggfather ,his sophomore album, didnt sound like doggystyle.of course not, deez guys rap bout reality and shit they go thru, snoop b/w 93-96 was either in jail or in courts battlin da justice system, and shit ya know dat he would be feelin diff than he did in 93wit everythin bein fly and and gangsta rollin wit d.r.e. , and times were changin,im tellin u if snoop ever listened to da advice of his fans and looked towards his old joints,he would never have survived, dats y hits like drop it like its hot came out (or da previous hits b/w 2000 and now),he was still bringin character but witta diff sound and a diff feel, its bout a new direction in hip hop, shit nowadays cant sound like da stuff before, call it life’s a bitch or watever but ya know it never happened.if 2pac got resurrected ya know he wouldnt be droppin da same joints he did in 96,da game changes every yr and so does da sound.its how u adapt,if ya wanna follow, but at da moment, trendsetters are needed so dun blame da mobb for tryin 2 not sound old, aight?
    im out
my rating of da album 8.5/10
    sick joints:
    infamous
    daydreamin
    stole somethin
    in love with the moulah
    put em in they place
p.s. dun think da rest of da tracks on da album are filler material, theyre still dope, those above are my fav.
    pz!

  • Big Ant

it is what it is music is unpredictable THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES. Mobb released Amerikkas’s nightmare without Aftermath and the same people that didnt cop that album are still throwign stones. They’ve had a long career and so far they’re winnin. it takes companies billions just to rebrand themeselve more time than money for that and sometimes taking risks pays off and at times the music spixx for itself. I am enjoying Blood Money and that’s that!!!! South Africa baby!

    mobb deep flopped badd….

they so far have sold 200k, and are getting about 9,000 a week and are declining. they last charted at 96 on the billboard 200, so i think its official that they have flopped. i just want to see fiddy’s reaction, he sed blood money will go at least 2 to 3 times platinum. Now we have to wait and see if ‘give it to me’ can get numbers rolling, and can chart in high territory, its unlikely tho……
