A Tribe Called Quest Plans Reunion Tour

tribe.jpgAccording to an MTV.com report, legendary Queens hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest is planning to reunite for a tour this fall. While plans for a new album from the trio are still unclear, the group’s DJ/co-producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad revealed that he is planning to hit the road with MCs Q-Tip and Phife Dawg in October or November. “As far as doing any albums, there’s still a question mark on that. We’re not that far along yet,” he told MTV. “We’re going to take these shows and see how it goes.” Muhammad also revealed that all three members are currently working on solo albums.

    It’s great to hear that real hip hop is coming back. The new school rappers don’t know the meaning of hip hop. Nothing compares to old school hip hop. Hopefully they hook up with other great old school acts for their tour. I will definitely buy a ticket.

    Back in the day I thought most New York rap didn’t even make good elevator music- with the corny rhymes and weak beats. The tribe (along with P.E.,L.L.,and a few more) were the only New York rappers I could bump in the ride or pop in the cassette player at home. I’m glad to see them back at it.

    Went to the Tribe show in Atlanta on Saturday. It was bananas!! Tribe still has it. Tip and Phife ripped it up. Ali Shaheed is still nice on the 1′s and 2′s. It made me miss real hip hop.
