Atlanta rapper Tip “T.I.” Harris’s coming-of-age drama ATL exceeded expectations this weekend, debuting at #3 at the box office. The Chris Robinson-helmed pic made $12.5 million, falling just behind Spike Lee’s Inside Man ($15.7 million) and the animated Ice Age: The Meltdown ($70.5 million). ATL also had a higher per-screen average attendance than Inside Man. This marks the first film for both T.I. and music video director Chris Robinson.
