Hometown MCs Kanye West and Common will appear at this summer’s alternative music festival Lollapalooza, which will take place from August 4-6 in Chicago’s Grant Park. First organized in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perrry Farrell, the event toured with the biggest names in alternative rock and hip-hop around the U.S. through 1997. It was revived in 2002 and eventually recast in 2005 not as a tour, but as a two-day festival in Chicago. Gnarls Barkley, UK rapper Lady Sovereign and West Coast underground favorites Blackalicious and Lyrics Born are also scheduled to appear at this year’s event.
