Premiere of Ice Cube-produced “Black. White.” Sets TV Ratings Records

Four million viewers tuned in on Wednesday night (March 8th) for the premiere of the Ice Cube-produced reality series “Black. White.,” which chronicles the experiences of a White family and a Black family as each puts on Hollywood-style makeup to pass as members of the other race. Not only did the premiere beat out MTV’s “The Osbornes” as the highest-rated cable reality episode of all time, it also rated as the most successful launch of any show on cable TV. Ice Cube’s “Race Card” is the show’s theme song, signaling the 36-year-old’s return to rap. Cube’s new album, Laugh Now, Cry Later, will hit stores in June.

I saw this show, and I think it’s crap. They come off by saying that they are the typical (insert race)family. When in fact, they are not. The black father said “this is how your treated when your white” and myself being white, am offended by that not all white people get star treatment everywhere they go. It depends on how much money you have, not your fucking race. I have never had anybody help me put on shoes in a shoe store ; neither have they helped anyone else in my family…I thought this was going to be a good show, but from what I’ve seen on the first episode, I’m doubtful and offended..

The show is real good, except the part about teaching people to act a certain race. To me that reaks of stereotypes more then anything. People are people regardless of color. My wife and I are an interracial couple, but thats only as appearence. We are a couple 1st that just happens to be made up of different races. The way our wonderful marriage has grown is thge simple fact that what other people think and feel about us as a couple just doesnt matter. Their opinion of us is a non-factor.

  • TDawg

I wanna get that soundtrack song by cube anyone know where to get that?

  • Sidney

I encouraged my 13 year-old son to watch the show every Wednesday. We even caught the re-runs on the following Saturdays. I want the DVD set, when they become available. It would a pitty if there were no continued seasons. It would be crazy not to do this. This is the making of a Phenomenon. You know, like The “X-Files” and “Charmed”

  • C.Smalls

I was so happy when they made a show like this because every body (white’s)
can see the actual day to day stuggle
we go througth black males/people. The show showed the watered down version of it. It would have been way differnt if they was in Mississipi. Cause if they were there the white famliy would have really felt the heat. Racesism isn’t strong like back in the day but it’s still here especially in Mississipi, black people still get hanged there.

This is all I want to say on the subject. It is a quote from an Ice Cube rap song.

“Bust a Glock; devils get shot. . . . when God give the word me herd like the buffalo through the neighborhood; watch me blast. . . . I’m killing more crackers than Bosnia-Herzegovina, each and everyday. . . . don’t bust until you see the whites of his eyes, the whites of his skin. . . . Louis Farrakhan . . . Bloods and CRIPS, and little old me, and we all getting ready for the enemy”

“Enemy”; Ice Cube, Lethal Injection, 1993, Priority Records, Thorn EMI; now called The EMI Group, United Kingdom.

Ice Cube like most so-called anti-racist are nothing more than anti-whites in reality. Why is Black Entertainment Television, The Black College Fund and Black History Month not only supported by our media and government but praised as holy goodness. Yet a White History Month, White Entertainment Television or a White College Fund is not only frowned upon. It is fought against with utter passion and considered an evil construction or vile white racism. The double standards are disgusting and hypocritical. It’s no wonder that white-racism in America is not only growing is actually booming! Being fueled by blaring double-standards such as this. :(

The white people on here need to stop crying and start learning… sheesh! Ya’ll need to try cotton picking and all that talking about reverse racism, make me laugh.

    UK Baby….

  • afrocentricity

and to dude spreading all the anti-cube propaganda I like the way you chose a few ‘choice’ lines from a 4:50 min song to paint the picture you want painted, I believe they call that ‘spin’.

What you need to start learning is some history lessons! I’m sure that you were alive as a slave in America 150 years ago? Less than 2% of Americans at the time were slave owners. They and their slaves have been dead along time now. According to FBI statistics, more than 85% of of violent race-related crimes are committed against whites by blacks. Here is a brief list of just a few of the numerous anit-white lyrics being promoted in mainstream rap and hip-hop today!

This is only a small sample of the list! It’s time to put an end to Anti-White racism…

Great program but it’s laughable that there are people who actually thought the black family looked white. People come in all shades and they looked like they could have been a mixture but not Anglo. My other question is why they made the white family look so greasy as blacks. Caused enough discussion to end up on the Oprah show…didn’t see if Cube was on there or not.

  • TONY BMORE

BIG UP TO CUBE.. he exposed the world to attitudes that still face each race today and the white guy still din,t get it,, but the majority of us got it..racism is still alive and you a fool if you don,t see it or feel it.. good show.
