It looks like Lil Pump might have just responded to J. Cole's new KOD footer, "1985 (Intro to 'The Fall Off')"—sort of. Earlier today (April 20), the South Florida rapper used his Instagram story to clap back at someone who's recently dissed a 17-year-old. FYI, Pump is 17 for another four months.

"Wow you get so much props—you dissed a 17-year-old," Pump begins before letting out a laugh. "Lame ass jit."

If you haven't been paying attention to hip-hop, describing what, exactly, is going on between these two artists is a little hard because neither of them are saying any names. Understanding the potential shots, or lack thereof, requires a little bit of a history lesson.

Starting in the present, Cole unleashed his KOD album today, and the last song on the project, "1985," finds the rapper addressing an unnamed rapper who'd previously dissed him while finding success through "riding trends."

"I heard one of 'em diss me, I'm suprised/I ain't tripping, listen good to my reply/Come here lil' man, let me talk with ya/See if I can paint for you the large picture/Congrats 'cause you made it out your mama's house/I hope you make enough to buy your mom a house," he spits in a verse that feels a bit like a condescending lecture.

Now, back to the past. Last year, right around the time Pump and his friend Smokepurpp were blowing all the way up, Pump previewed a diss track directed at J. Cole. He never released the whole thing, but there's a good chance Cole heard about it, hence the popular theory that Pump is the rapper Cole refers to on "1985."

It's important to note a few things about Cole's track. One, he doesn't say any names, so, there's always that. Two, the "person" Cole describes on the track could very well be a composite for all newer generation rappers.
