Caleborate Argues With His Inner Thoughts in “4 Willem” Video

Following up to his recent album release, Caleborate drops the music video for his "4 Willem" track, which features him reflecting on some his biggest life struggles to date.

The gritty music video for the Willem Ardui-produced record shows a hoodie-donning Caleborate rapping the lyrics to his innovative life story as he makes his way through the city streets. By the end of the video, the Berkley MC has a full-fledged argument with himself while hanging out on a rooftop where he goes into detail about his inner thoughts and years of trials and tribulations. Fortunately, things end on a happy note, as it's clear that Caleborate is proving himself to be one of the top rising lyricists in today's rap game.

The entertainer explains how the song originally came together in a statement, stating that the title stems from the producer's name.

"'The 'Willem' in the track title refers to the song's producer - the way we met is crazy," he says. "I’ve never met him in person, even though we’ve been making music since 2012. We met through Facebook when he sent me a random message. I dedicated the song to him because we didn’t work on my 1993 project. So I when I heard this beat, I knew I wanted to put it on the album and I dedicated it to him. The second verse is near and dear to me. It’s about my boy Darian, a childhood friend I grew up playing basketball with. He was murdered last year at a party in Sacramento. When he passed away, it was a wake up call--It made me appreciate the people in my life more."

Back in October, the 24-year-old rapper dropped his anticipated Real Person album, where he covered multiple topics including relationships, career goals, and his life struggles over the years. The project followed in the footsteps of his 2016 release, 1993, which was one of the most slept-on projects of the year.
