Watch ASAP Rocky Hit the Stage With Skepta in London
2016 saw Skepta reinforce his tight grip on the Grime scene, while still getting knee-deep into America's rap scene. Last night, he once again displayed just how effortlessly he switches between both worlds when he brought A$AP Rocky onto the stage during his performance at North London's Islington Assembly Hall.
The London crowd exploded as soon as the A$AP Mob member jumped onto the stage, and seconds later, he and Skepta were running through a live rendition of "Put That on My Set," a track from the A$AP Mob's Cozy Tapes, Vol. 1: Friends. You can peep the energetic performance below.
The show was the centerpiece of a charity fundraiser designed to help a charity organization by the name of Shelter combat homelessness. Skepta--whose latest project, Konnichiwa famously took home the 2016 Mercury Prize--was treated like the blooming superstar he is. Acclaimed actor Idris Elba even introduced him before he took the stage.
As we mentioned before, Skepta is making major strides in strengthening both his core UK fan base and his listeners in the U.S. Through his alliance with Drake and his quality music, it doesn't seem like he'll be slowing up soon. Beginning on April 16, the British MC will embark on his Banned From America tour, and probably earn even more fans in the process.
It's clear that Skepta's making big moves, and if he continues at the rate he's going, his 2017 could be even bigger than his 2016.
