The release of Wale's "Groundhog Day" video comes with an extended version of the track. The new version includes a lengthy rant that gives it an eight minute runtime. The first half of the video sees the D.C. rapper hanging out with his fans on the West Coast and spitting rhymes from the original version of the track.

"The most highly underrated of my generation/Behind them crooked smiles niggas neglect to embrace me/Respect is an order now/My liquor is more to y'all/You throwing little shots, we catching some cases/Lot of niggas hate to love me or they love to hate me/Labeled as reckless and crazy by my record label/Doctors say it's bipolar disorder, he diagnosing me wrong/It's obviously depressing counting blue faces," Wale raps.

"Groundhog Day" was a response to J. Cole's "False Prophets," which took aim at Wale.

"And I know he so bitter he can’t see his own blessings/Goddamn, nigga, you too blind to see you got fans, nigga/And a platform to make a classic rap song/To change a nigga life, but you too anxious living life. Always worried ‘bout the critics who ain’t ever fucking did it/I write what’s in my heart, don’t give a fuck who fuckin’ with it/But in a sense I can relate, the need to be great/Turns into an obsession keeps a nigga up late," Cole rapped on "False Prophets."

Wale is currently working on his new album S.H.I.N.E. (Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy), which is scheduled to drop later this year. There's no word if "Groundhog Day" will appear on the LP, but Wale's new Lil Wayne collaboration "Running Back" is supposed to featured on it.
