Something strange is going on in the brand new short film Vince Staples just released. The 10 minute clip is called Prima Donna, named after the EP he just dropped, and in it the Long Beach, Calif. MC is haunted by visions.

It starts with a weird looking music video, the kind of affair we wouldn't expect to see Vince partake in, full of ass and cheap visual effects. Then we go behind the scenes, and after blowing off someone on set, he gets into a cab that takes him to a place called the Prima Donna Hotel. As he rides up the elevator to his room, the title cut with A$AP Rocky plays. "Is it real?" goes the refrain as Vince endures more strange visions.

The film seems to be commenting on the suffocating nature of fame, as Vince's room turns into a stage where hungry fans are screaming for him. Some have figured the EP is a conceptual project about a rapper who makes it, only to kill himself at the end. Visions of Tupac and Amy Winehouse appear in Vince's film as well.

You can watch the short film, directed by Kanye West collaborator Nabil, above.
