Schoolboy Q has been getting his Quentin Tarantino on with the visuals from Blank Face, telling a crime story in nonlinear parts, with the video for "JoHn Muir" providing the beginning to the story that "Black Thoughts" finished. While previous videos showed Q and others in court or prison, charged with serious crimes, "JoHn Muir" shows the night of, how Q is associated and how things ultimately went down.

Directed by aplus, the visuals strap the viewer to the side of the green 1995 Toyota Camry referenced in the "Black Thoughts" court scene, simultaneously depicting daily life in Compton and how crime can unfold so quickly. In some ways it's reminiscent of the "Nosetalgia" video from Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar, the beauty and harsh realities of the California streets juxtaposed for dramatic effect.

Just last week, Q revealed that he came up with the verses for "JoHn Muir" completely on the spot, writing on Twitter, "ASK @SounwaveTDE I FREESTYLED ALL THA LYRICS 2 JOHN MUIR... 1 of my faves also."

In its first week, Blank Face sold 72,000 copies, though with the video above and his recently announced world tour with Joey Bada$$, Q's vision continues to translate in full, the body of work taking on multiple mediums with similarly impressive results. Previous installments to the short film came by way of videos for "Tookie Knows II" and "By Any Means." The Blank Face tour kicks off on Aug. 30 in Indianapolis, Ind.
