Lakers rookie point guard D'Angelo Russell is at the center of the NBA news cycle for all the wrong reasons. Though the Lakers are one of the five worst teams in the league this season, all eyes are on the Staples Center, despite the fact that the Golden State Warriors are chasing the single-season wins record and relevant teams are still jockeying for playoff position.

As you probably already know, D'Angelo Russell took a video of teammate Nick Young talking about cheating on his fiancee Iggy Azalea. The clip was obtained by a gossip website and landed Russell in hot water. Considering how intertwined the basketball and hip-hop worlds are, it was only a matter of time before a rapper came up with a punchline involving the controversy.

If we were placing bets for the first MC to mention Russell, we'd probably put our money on Fabolous, who has a history of sports-related punchlines. Instead of waiting for someone else to beat him to the punch, however, Cassidy rapped to an iPhone to make sure he was the first to get his bars about the fiasco off.

"I was tryin to get paid and made plans to go hustle/My team was lost and jealous and started telling like D'Angelo Russell/They hate when you Swaggy, but they love it when you down and out/Nothing lasts forever, even Kobe's knees founded out," rapped the Philly native.

If things are really going to go to the next level, Kobe will dust off the microphone and get back in the booth for a tell-all single. He'll have plenty of time in his post-career days.
