When Kanye West announced that his album would be called Waves, it not only sparked a short-lived beef with Wiz Khalifa, but also brought attention to incarcerated rapper, and purveyor of everything wavy, Max B. French Montana, whose collaborations with Max rank near the top of the New York City mixtape hierarchy, revealed in an interview with Hot 97 that Kanye wasn't very familiar with Max B. In a subsequent interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, French talked more about 'Ye and Max B's budding relationship.

"I never looked at it as something negative when someone like Kanye try to do the wave thing. I feel like that's a compliment, you don't get mad at something like that," he said. "When you use 'wave' it's no way you can compare it to surfing or hair grease. I feel like when everyone attacked Kanye, he didn't get it. I was hearing different things. I heard he was going to go on the internet and say 'Fuck Max B' because he didn't know. Me just having that great relationship with him, we got to put it together and got great records out of it, ended up putting Max on the album. Right now, they're putting in work together."

When prompted on potential collaboration between 'Ye and Max, Montana revealed that Yeezy has been trying to help the locked up Harlem native released from prison. "We workin' on something. I want to keep it under wraps until we put it together but we've definitely been on the phone damn near everyday trying to put something together for my boy."

On Saturday (Feb. 20), DJ Khaled premiered the French Montana and Max B Wave Gods project on his Beats 1 Radio show. Produced entirely by Harry Fraud, the project features heavy hitters like Diddy, Jadakiss, Kanye West and Nas.
