J. Cole has teamed up with HBO for a mini-documentary that will culminate with the Homecoming concert film on Jan. 9. HBO and Cole have made the first episode of the five-part series available for free online via the rapper's Vimeo page.

The 30-minute clip shows J. Cole in the days leading up to the deadline for his 2014 Forest Hills Drive album and all the work he put in to make sure things go off without a hitch. The rapper jet-sets across the country to play the album for various radio program directors and stops by the homes of fans to give them an exclusive listen of the project before anyone else. The episode also shows Cole giving a guest lecture at Morehouse College, returning to his childhood home in Fayetteville, North Carolina  and his reaction to the news that his album went No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Check it out above.

Cole took to Instagram to announce the documentary and wrote that "These pieces will document some important moments from the last year of my life and give you a lot of insight into the album rollout process, each act of the Forest Hills Drive tour, the Dollar and a Dream tour (Friday Night Lights edition), and some ill perspective on the inner-workings of my career and the important people that help make all this shit happen."

A new episode will be available every Wednesday on HBO Go and Cole's Vimeo page and the "Homecoming" concert will air on Jan. 9. After that, the episodes will be wiped from the internet and only available on DVD.
