Jay Electronica made a rare appearance this morning when he popped up on Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club" during an Erykah Badu interview. Throughout the conversation with Charlamagne, DJ Envy and Angela Yee, Badu touched on her upcoming mixtape, past relationships and kicking it wit Drake. Towards the end of the interview, Electronica came into the studio where he was asked by Charlamagne when he planned on dropping new music.  "I'm only here as security for the mother of my daughter," responded the mysterious MC.

Badu followed up her baby's father comments by saying, "Jay doesn't need to make an album, I don't think. He can make one if he wants to, but he but doesn't need to. I don't think that everyone needs to make an album or needs to do something. He's an amazing MC and he's an amazing different other kinds of things too. Jay is the type of person that comes into people's lives and brings out the best of them and that's the truth. If he wants to make an album, he can make an album but his Eternal Sunshine can last us until 2029 because I still haven't heard anything as good as that...I still can't match that, it's the best mixtape that I've ever heard."

Electronica's only official release dropped way back in 2007 and was impressive enough that he has been able to hold the music world's attention for the last eight years despite being out of the public eye for the better part of the last decade. In the past few months, Just Blaze, who produced the masterpiece that is "Exhibit C," said in an interview that he has a finished version of Electronica's album. Shortly thereafter, an unreleased song called "Holladay" dropped and news surfaced that a new vinyl project from Jay will come out on Record Store Day. Still, based on the last eight years, we aren't getting too optimistic for an official release from Electronica.
